I like his story more and more as I get older. I'm on the verge of getting his endorsed juicer just out of awe more than anything else.

Awesome. I remember his show on KTVU, and he often had his dogs exercise with him.

ya i remember his dog, Happy!! it was either a samoyed or shepherd. i used to watch his show as a kid. one two three FOUR one two three FOUR. he always emphasized number four when he counted off reps lol.
my fave thing i read in that article, besides beating arnold's monkey ass in chin ups and push ups, was how he handcuffed himself and towed those boats. awesome!!!
you know there was another local strongman, perhaps a powerlifter, who used to load up a barbell every year on his birthday, and walk lombard street. i read about him in an old ironman mag decades ago, back when peary rader was still in charge and it was all powerlifting/strength. ah yes those were the days.

I'm pretty sure he did the boat towing thing in the bay to Alcatraz a lot, too. But the article doesn't mention it.

What a great article!
cool quote imo-
"I work at living," he says, leaning close and squeezing an arm. "Most people work at dying. Dying's easy."
he seems like a really interesting person and charismatic too.

He's a goof ball But he has my respect for his work with shut-ins/severly obese to the point of metal illness from the stuff I saw years ago on tv. He's the Elton John of Exercise in terms of looks, hehhe.

Turns out Jack was too cool for school. I remember him from TV in the sixties. He was the first muscled-up guy I'd ever seen and it made an impression. I'm a long time fan.
