For example, if you haven't decided which school you want to go with, any of those coaches will call you up, up until that summer and sometimes as late as fall. However, they really cant contact you that much until the 4th quarter of your senior year, most do anyway just to keep in touch.

ok thanks and yeah none have called me or sent me anything really ive only talked to the scouts and coaches in the weight room and stuff and theyve taken down all my info and whatnot and ive met with a few.

my question
I played center this past season, due to an injury, (i always played guard before)and i have smaller hands. I wear a towel, but when the ball gets slick, i lose grip easily.
I had prob about 3-5fumbles this year because i couldny grip it on the exchange.
My question-- would gloves be a way to fix that?
|
I had this same problem. I sweat alot so to correct this problem I brought 4 towels per game. When the first towel was soaked switch it out and so on til the game ended. Also I used very large towels. Looks goofy as hell but gets the job done

This year was my first year playing football. I was placed on JV to gain expirience since I didnt know jack squat at the start of the season. This up coming season I will with 99% certainty start the O-line. Our school runs the wing-t offense. We are forced to block using some surface to block bs. Basically you put your arm up and form a chicken wing and are expected to block with it. It worked on the jv level since i was still much bigger then the opposing d-line. Do you think this blocking technique will work on the varsity level?

no it wont work well. like said below, sit low, punch, and if needed cut them. since im not that fast i would be facing tall but lean and fast d-ends and they would run outside me all day so especially if they get outside you cut them. we also run wing-t so lmk if you have an questions. also i dunno what position you would play but i play right o-tackle.

I definitly need to work on getting lower. I also play right o-t. As far as plays went my blocking assignments were rather basic. Gap, down, backer. Rarely i had to pass block or cross block. thanks for the help to both of you. grey reps are useless but you can have them.

yeah most of the plays are gap, down, backer and whatnot then we have a few like 841 counter where i pull left and trap the DL coming through and the back follows me.

Although, just to add to that [strong double post], the standard of football over here is much much worse than in the US, by quite a margin. Our University football isn't even on a par with like, high school over there, not even close.

oh 841 counter is our 8 tango combo. the only thing i noticed during games was that i could not remember my blocking assignments. regardless of the play i would just hit the NT or the DT. i think i should work on that this upcoming season.

Hi everyone. Entering my Junior year, going to start at noseguard and LT. I have been working on my weaknesses all off-season and I don't know how I am going to compare to last year. Hopefully I really show what I have been working on, on the field.

I'm quite a bit older than many of you here but o-line has and always will have a special place in my heart !
I played guard for a Div 1 school many years ago and coach a HS team now. Offensive lineman are a special breed. I saw it all those years ago and I see it now in my boys too. Toughest SOB's on the team.

Former hog checking in! I played college ball at 6'5" 325lbs. There is not a better position of the field...guaranteed contact every play!

I was 6'5", 310 in my playing days. That was 30 years ago and back then, most lineman were a bit smaller. I was blessed with quickness so I played guard. I was one of the bigger lineman on the team though. We did have a left tackle that was 6'4", 340 or something ridiculous like that. He was a load but damn strong.

Center is the most difficult position on the line, not only do you need to know the play and your assignment, but you also need to make sure you are getting the ball to the QB. I'm stating the obvious I know but it is something I drill into my Centers constantly. Answering your specific question is difficult. If you think you are getting to your assignment too slow, practice without the snap. Simulate the snap and move to your target. You don't need other players to do this .. do it in your backyard. Footwork is key and you must have good feet or your coach wouldn't have put you there. My suggestion, and something I've told my lineman directly, is to set yourself up in your living room, backyard anywhere and run through the play. Try different techniques with your feet and be sure to set your shoulders quickly to get to the direction you are going. I'm sorry this is vague but there is no real answer to your question unless I could see a specific problem. Another suggestion is ask your coach. That is what he is there for.
