|
thanks!
I'm really new to the weight training scene. I did exercise videos at home for 14 years, and just started eating clean last year.
I started doing some weight training in October, but even though I was eating clean, I was clueless with portions, timing with workouts, and carb/protein/fat ratios.
I found a great nutrition/training coach and I'm basically just doing what I'm told right now, and trying to build muscle but taking it slow.

ChickenTuna you know I am one of your fans, I have said so before. Like you I am a NY transplant down here in NC and right around the same age...Makes me wonder if we are in the same area...
But to gain muscle on your legs, besides speaking with these folks who are in better shape and more educated than I, I would agree that it is a Fuel thing for you. Eat More and train your legs hard 1 day a week, giving them time to recover and grow...
Of course it is time for my next snack... where is that ding dong I was hiding.....no wait it was a chicken breast not a ding dong...

thanks Jdonyx, that is so nice
I'm in Charlotte.
I'm trying hard with the legs and have made some progress but I've had to fight for every scrap of muscle I get. I can gain weight pretty easily, but I don't make muscles easily.

Both pics have their individual merit.
Number 1 has a bottle of beer and a woman in a bikini. Who could ask for anything more?
Number 2 has a well-proportioned, ripped and muscular woman... in a bikini.
Uh, who could ask for anything more?

Well... Number 2 on a cheat day ! CT has it tuned in ladies and gentlemen. Trying to put calipers on her would surely draw only blood. Great Work.

Hey CT, you are really inspirational, especially since I started out with your body type, only i gained too much fat and not enough muscle last time I tried to bulk.....aaaargh.
Anyway when i look at your pics I am motivated more than ever to get things right......Can i ask what is your diet like roughly, and how many calories do you take in? Do you bulk and then cut or just eat clean all year round?
hope you don't mind me asking...

Lotta fans out there, CT. I have seen a few of your pictures and this thread provides a great opportunity to ask you a question I've been meaning to ask you. Obviously, by nature women carry more bf than men, so how is it that you are so lean? I mean you are lean to the point of being a statistical outlier.
Yes, I understand that if one is competing you can get this lean for a short period of time, but you seem to maintain this 3% to 4% bf level year 'round. Is this something you actively work at? Or does is this something that is not too difficult for your body? Was there any special technique you followed to get that lean, or again, did it just sort of naturally happen?
When I lean out I lose muscle and I don't like that, but I've never really leaned out totally, in part because it's hard, but I am seriously thinking about leaning out more than just a little bit just to see what really happens.

For someone who hates to workout and eat healthy (I read your website), you sure do know how to stay motivated. Good job.

hi Angel, thanks I don't really use the terms bulk and cut, I think they are more geared towards men, or those who can actually put on mass. I just eat clean year round and work out consistently. Don't count calories ever, but know basically what I need and just wing it.
The biggest change I have ever seen in my body was from the complete TOTAL elimination of all bar drinks and junk food or non clean food items.
So it's what I don't eat that has made a huge difference.

Women are definitely fattier than men and I don't think can get away with eating crap and staying lean. Once I became lean, I just never said, .. "ok.. now it's time to stop eating clean and eat some crap "... just kept on eating clean, and have found that I am needing to eat more and more as I go and have never felt better.
From what I can tell, most people who get lean, get to that point and then say... YAY.. now it's time for the crap eating and I've never done that.
I haven't really come across anyone else willing to completely give up the crap in an ongoing way,.. but it works like a charm for anyone willing. I like feeling good more than I like eating the crap
