and i think im doing good so far on my first ever challange, but we'll see how things end in december!!
You don't have to do cardio to lose fat. It's good for you and helps you eat more and gives you some wiggle room in your diet. It helps in fat loss, heart and better lung function. However in the end, weight training and proper diet are your best bets to lose fat and preserve as much muscle as possible.

I do zero cardio. Hate it, feet hurt, it's boring. If I do any now, I like to do intervals.
Also I used to do cardio 5 days a week and I think it wore me out a bit so I think 3 days weights, 3 days cardio is a decent blend, any more depends on you and how your body responds to it. The key is consistency.

The biggest advice I can give anyone on this thread is to listen to your body. This is very important. And enjoy the ride.
As webgodess always says, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

My first challenge isn't going as well as I planned wasn't able to get a work out today again. But I plan on hitting the gym longer then I usually do once I get back home on saturday. I don't leave town again until tuesday night next week, so I should actually get to workout then.

If you bust your butt doing cardio then every time you eat something extra or that you shouldn't, think about whether or not it's worth doing MORE cardio to burn the calories your about to eat. I'm trying to get back into this mindset, when I was keeping this in mind for the earlier challenges...I cheated way less.

Had a decent work out today was kinda interrupted by people being on the equipment i needed.

Replaced my BB Bench Press with a extra 20 min treadmill cardio sesh , with plenty of incline.

Felt positive today, feeling good and excited.

ghengistahn goodstuff buddy nice to see results.

Great advice, thanks. I think aside from the running and sports in gym classand the great amount of walking I do everyday I am not going to spend my time with additional cardio. But I will start lifting seriously maybe 3 or 2 times a week. Howevr I need to find a gym first. Since I cant afford one I''m looking at my neighbourhood library's gym.

Man they are really trying to sabatoge < I know that is not spelt right

my workout plans. I got my first 2 work outs in and diet has been incredible this week but the job I am on is kicking my fat azz hard I can barely lift my fricken arms and am having really sharp pains in my middle back all through the day. I see how 500lbers end up bed ridden. That sheet ain't happening to me though as good as my diet is I am sure I will lose more then the 2 lbs I lost last week I am just worried about my leg workout tommorow and if I will be able to squat with as sore as my back is I might have to swap squats with leg press till next week.

Good to see you guys are doing so great and thanks again for letting me jump on board.

p.s. repps for WG for working so hard at keeping dis thread running smooooth

I am also going back to page 1 and working my way through reppin all you guys but it is gonna take a while to get through 373 posts kutgw all

Sure thing
Thats what we're here for.

As far as the gym is concerned, I work out at the fitness center in my apartment complex lol. I think I will have to eventually join a proper gym.

10/7
Training - Back + Biceps + Calves
Fun workout. I think back is my favorite muscle group to work on after abs.

Weighed in today, down yet again. I am about to fly out to Houston (to parents house) for the next 7 days for my fiancee and I's engagement party (which is saturday). It is being arranged by our parents and for me it basically = TONS OF FOOD + OPEN BAR = OH FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!

I think it'll be ok though. I'll check the thread whenever I have a chance or need motivation!

Cardio is essential to help burn fat.....it's right up there with diet (although not as important). People mainly do cardio to keep their metabolism in check and running strong.

It's one of those love/hate relationships you have when bodybuilding....if you think of it as "Ugh, I've gotta do 30 minutes of cardio because I ate too much today", then you'll probably hate cardio for a long time....whereas if you look at it as "I'm doing 20-30 minute cardio sessions, post-workout, to help burn more fat", then you'll end up liking it.

Give it a shot for 1 month....try to do cardio for at least 15-25 minutes after each workout, 4-5 times a week and in 1 month I bet you you'll see awesome results in your body.

I think diet is the most important thing and one of the hardest things to do is to stick to eating healthy but cardio is also very important and must be done.

I think you misread or I came across wrong.....I meant to say Cardio is important in weight loss along with diet, but diet is more important....so yes, after I re-read this I can see how that sentence was confusing.

Just uploaded some new progress pics on my Bodyspace.

I am still sticking with my goal of 215lbs, but I am changing my BF% to 17% instead of the original 18% I set. I am currently at 18.3% as of my measurements yesterday.

Going to start a new 5x5 workout next Monday so we will see what happens.

too late for a noob?

Hey,

Just read through this thread, and think it's great.. I just found the site and forums a few days ago, as I started my own new workout, and was looking for like minded people.. Looks like I found it!!

I started working out again after a 1 month layoff on Oct 2nd..

Weight:I was/am 215.lbs
Bodyfat: No clue, would like to know...
Measurements: 38" waist, will post the rest on my bodyspace tonight.
Pics, will post tonight as well (as painful as that will be...)
Goals: Short term, for this challenge, 20lbs by Xmas

The only "suppliments" I use are the FRS energy products. They are 100% natural and really good for you. I started using FRS when I was running 3-5 miles a day, and it made a noticeable difference. I drink a can or pint 30 min before workout. I will also drink a can/pint sometimes in place of snacking, as it's loaded with free radical scavengers, vitamins, etc..

My diet is very strict.. I am a vegetarian.I do not drink anything with high fructose corn syrup, so no pop, sports drinks, etc..Cheese and portion control are my issues..

If it's too late to jump on board, I understand... i'll just lurk and do it on my own..

Either way, keep it up guys!!
