Doing the 5x5?
5 reps , 5 sets.
what effect will this have on my muscles, and will this make my muscles more defined or just increase strength/size etc?
Also im 16 and should i be putting the strain of only 5 reps on my body?

You are over analyzing.
Get on a pre-written routine and eat.

its better to have a longer high rep workout because u burn more cals and ur strength won't be increasing on a cut so really no point in a 5x5.

Wrong. You burn more cals lifting heavier weights and it is possible to increase strength during a cut.

Longer workout is not an answer. Best workout is about hour long. Short and effective. 5x5 is great for that if you do 5 exercises, 4 compounds and one accessory exercise. Builds both, size and strength. If you eat enough!

Like someone said, follow the actual Madcow 5x5 program. Not just 5x5 for certain things...
