posing suits for figure
Hi. I live in SW Ontario. I plan on entering my first figure competitoin this fall. Its a level one event. Just wondering if anyone has competed in the area and has advice for me. (haha a pretty gneral question) I am also wondering about the suits. The way it sounds I have to have a plain suit for the prelims and then different suits for the 1 and 2 piece rounds, is this correct? Does anyone know any place in Ontario to get quality suits from? I'm also wondering about the shoes, do they have to be different for the prelims and finals? Thanks in advance for any help!

Rainbowbrite,
What organization are you competing in?
If it's the NPC, you don't need different suites for the Pre-Judging and the finals.
The actual judging is all done in the morning at State and Regional level shows in the NPC ( with the exception of the overall champion - also, National Level shows also do one round of judging in the evening ), so be sure to wear your best suits for the morning judging.
Some other organizations may require you to wear a standard or plain suit for the pre-judging, but it's definitely not done that way in the NPC.
Most of the suits worn by top level competitors are made by just a handful of suit makers around the country. There are probably some places in your local area that could make suits, but whomever you choose, be sure to give them plenty of time to make them properly. Your suit selection is very important.
Let me know if I can be of further help!

The event is run by the Ontario Physique Association which is part of the CBBF, which in turn is affiliated with the IFBB. Confusing . Im sure Ill have more details closer to the show. There are no rules listed on any of those sites except for the IFBB site.
As for the suit, I want to have a customized suit that fits well but dont want to have to fork out a huge amount of money, though I hope whatever I end up paying will be worth it in the end.
The IFBB rules also say that only quarter turns are involved so Ive been practicing up on those. Should start practicing in heels soon. Any tips on posing would also be appreciated. Thanks for your help!

suits
Rainbowbrite-
Congratulations on your decision to start competing! There are numerous suit designers in the fitness industry. Luckily, there are sights where you can view some suits and then choose the designer best suited to what you have in mind. Try looking at Fitsights.com and then go to Suit Scoop. You should be able to find exactly what you are looking for. Also, with the great competitors that you have in Canada, don't be afraid to contact them to see who designs their suits. You might even be able to hook up with a used, but well kept suit for less money.
Good luck!

I work with the Canadian gals as well. I have lots of pre made suits, rentals and great discounts on 1 piece since the US gals don't wear them anymore.
I'd love to help you!

Suits I Use
I have my suits designed by Christie Skelton of Ceradawear.com she is amazing. She made my first two suits from a distance. We met in person at my second show. She's an experienced competitor so she knows how it will fit when you've dropped your water.
I'd say give her a call. Good luck to you!!!

Thank you!!!
I was told no metallic, foil or hologram suits in prejudging. Evening suits you can do whatever you like.
But double check with your promoter to make sure.

You should have a goal weight you or your training has said will be close to what you compete at. That is what you tell the suit person your weight will be, that with height, and cup size is all she will really need. I suggest don't wait any longer than 8 weeks out.
