I'm surprised they don't do this already! How else are you going to be able to tell if your boss is standing over your shoulder?? I've always worked at places where this was the norm.
Do it lilly....start the trend.
I would like to find my "money" areas
Good luck with the packing!!!
As for the munchies, I've never really liked nibbling on rabbit food - carrots, celery sticks etc.
I've always gone for something sweet - like a treat - so I feel satisfied, like cottage cheese strawberries and stevia, or I'll sip on some hot drinks - green tea, cocoa, latte. They go slow and something about I get that comfort feeling from them. Or I'll have cheese w/grapes which feels like a little bit of an indulgence.

Don't sweat the food too much during the move. Coming from someone that moved 5 times in the last 2 years, even I don't have it down solid yet Especially with this last move, I decided that packing/moving/etc was WAY higher on my priority list than counting calories and such. But you must always remember to breathe and if you get overwhelmed, just take some time for yourself!!
Happy Friday!

I am DEFINITELY going to do the grapes and cheese thing. Also I think baby carrots will work also. Something to chomp my frustration away. Every darn day they have something sweet in the kitchen and I have no resistance to it!!!! Hot cocoa also sounds like a great idea. Thanks so much for these ideas. Anything to keep the pounds from creeping on.

Brah that is so wise of you to say and I really appreciate the advice. I have been taking time to breathe during this wacky time, even if its just for a few moments. 5 times in two years.. that's pretty admirable. I hope where you are now is where you plan on staying at least for a little while!!!
ugggh. I want a do-over on this whole summer. Ever since I got back from Milan its just been one f-ed up stressful situation after the next. I'm not loving my new job, I'm mostly just putting up with it for now, I really want to just go into business for myself and get a head start on the museum project, and I have a couple other projects in the wings that I would love to focus on. But nothing is regular and reliable at the moment, and thats what I need for rent and car payments. Waaah. That's why I think the feng shui will help at work. To help me feel more centered and focused, and less cranky and prone to feeding bad habits. You know???
The stress has taken its toll on my appearance and that just compounds the effects of it. I've got crazy dark circles and puffiness under my eyes, the size 10s that I had on hand for my fat days are now becoming regular-days pants, the eczema on my hands is worse and I have really dry lips that won't go away. So I spoke about it with my husband, and we agreed that once we're settled into the new place we're going to do a raw fast for a week or so. Its not because I want to crash diet or anything.. really, I don't. Its not because I want to quickly lose weight.. if I do I know it won't last...Its more because I want to break some bad habits.. alcohol, tons of caffeine, sugar, among other unmentionables... and basically press the "reset" button on my body. I am soooooo exhausted all the time. If anyone reading this knows of a good way to go about raw fasting... smoothies? juicing? salads? oils? nuts? a combination of all?.... please let me know!
sorry for this depressing post. I feel I have to let it all out sometimes.

Oh trust me, I hate moving with a PASSION! Before those 5 moves, I was in the same place for over 2 years! It's just that in Hawaii, you need to jump on things when they become available or you'll miss your chance. Trust me, I don't want to move again AT ALL!!!
I did a cleanse about a year and a half ago and I think it went well. It was one of the hardest things I had done, but I kept getting sick and it was pissing me off. A few months after the cleanse is when I finally jumped into BBing I did the Martha's Vineyard Diet Detox (although I like to take out the Diet part of it, because I didn't do it for the diet, I did it for the detox) http://mvdietdetox.com/ I juiced my veggies, made soups, etc.... but I also did have some protein shakes because I wasn't trying to lose weight. I also didn't do all the colon cleanse stuff they talk about either. But the detox may be something to look into

Hey lovely, sounds like it's been complete madness of late. A detox could be great idea in terms of cutting out chemicals and stimulants, providing you keep an eye on getting enough calories and protein- have a ready supply of pulses, nuts and seeds. In the meantime, chug lots of water.
How about a bit of meditation/yoga downtime?

No experience with detox but I have heard of the Martha's vineyard one.
I'm down with Charli on the yoga/meditation. I've also found that watching Food Network TV takes me to my happy place. I like Jeff Corwin & Giada.
Also, sleep is your best friend

I did the master cleanse once and It was a terrible idea. I lost 6 pounds while on it and gained 15 pounds aftwards, that I have never, ever been able to lose since. (this was in '06) So no crazy starvation cleanses for me! I'll check out that martha's vineyard detox though.

Yoga and downtime sounds delicious. I am so wound up. And the stimulants have taken their toll.. I don't see myself getting rid of coffee completely from my life, but nothing wrong with taking a break every now and then. I AM A DESIGNER AFTER ALL! what's a designer without coffee? A sham.

Sleep is everything they say it is and more!
We're all moved in, what a crazy move. I moved into a bigger place so my little sister could move in with me and at the last moment she says she's going to stay with my mom. Can you imagine what a huge blow this was to me? To take the first job that came along to ensure a stable environment, to move away from a home that I loved, just so she could go to school easily and have a safe place to stay? I am livid. I am exhausted. I am writing from a coffee shop because there won't be internet in my house until tuesday. Till then.. I'll try real hard not to do anything drastic!

Oh no, not the Master Cleanse!! That one looks TERRIBLE! It's got no nutritional value whatsoever!! The good thing about the MV one is you are still getting lots of nutrition in all the fruits, veggies, supplements, etc... and protein if you want it.
Congrats on being in the new place!! That sucks about your sister, I'm sorry I too would be absolutely livid!!

Congrats on your new home sweet home! But that is appalling behaviour from your sister- I can see how you're furious. However, at the risk of sounding all sappy New Age, there'll probably be things that result from the move that'll make you glad you did it.
Have you decided on your detox, now the move madness is out the way?
Hope you've had a good week and are settling in
