Post Rotary cuff injury
Hi guys,
Really appreciate if someone could help me with this.
I had a minor rotary cuff injury about a year back while doing DB Shoulder presses. I immediately rested the injury and waited for the pain to subside. I currently dont have any pains while moving my arm in any direction, even after working out. However, since this past year, my injured shoulder fatigues too easily. This particularly effects my chest workouts. My shoulder workouts are still not as bad. My injured shoulder starts to fatigue just after a few warm up sets and by 4 sets of chest presses, starts to throb as if I just put it through 16 sets of isolation exercises. The other shoulder barely feels like its worked out.
Ive tried just rolling with it, thinking that the injured shoulder will catch up, and even though the weights I was pushing increased by a good 30-50% , the shoulder still gets fatigued unnaturally quickly. Ive tried resting, as I ve had some medical issues, for which I ve been off the gym for most of the time since End May till date.
I dont understand what I need to do to get my shoulder muscle strength and endurance back up again.

I tore my rotator cuff in Dec of 08, still going through therapy without surgery, I have tried everything in the world to get back to normal, I'm making slow but sure recovery, the only thing I can say is lift light with all chest and shoulder exercises, cables have become my best friend. and remember to stretch as much as possible.

Have you tried rotator cuff exercises?. I injured both shoulder cuffs 2 months ago and now they're back to normal and better than ever.

Yes I have actually. It improved the condition to a degree. But after that, its just not helped much.
I usually do high reps with very light weight.

active release
Hey,
I injured my rotator cuff in April. I went to Physical therapy for two months and it didnt really help. Earlier this month, I went to a chiropractor who practices active release techniques and he has helped reduce some of the pain in my shoulder. My shoulder still is not 100%, but i can do much more than I could before I saw the doctor.
Active release is not covered by my insurance, but it costs around $65 per session for my doctor. Check out the website and call a local dr. to see if it can be helpful for you

As someone who just underwent surgery for multiple tendon tears in rotator cuff let me make a strong suggestion to you. Go get an MRI as soon as possible. You could be making things worse by continuing to work the shoulder and may possibly end up with a complete tear. I was in your situation last January with the shoulder pain. I stopped doing anything heavy with shoulders and focused on working and stretching rotator cuffs with light weights, I also started swimming three days a week. A month or two of this and I my shoulder felt great and I was ready to get back to lifting. I got back into it slowly always looking out for the shoulder, warming up rotator cuffs before all upper body work. About six weeks ago I was hitting the bench and felt very strong. I decided ( like an idiot) to see if I could still hit 300lbs. I slowly worked up to it feeling strong with every lift. Loaded up the bar brought it down and on the way up something in my shoulder snapped and popped. Still dont know how I got the weight off me but I did. Oddly the pain wasnt that bad but I couldnt move my arm. To make long story short I had two complete tears of tendons and a small labrum tear. Doc says dont ever lift heavy again. I am out of commission for at least 4-6 months even as far as light lifting goes. So as I said, dont end up like me, go get an MRI and find out whats going on in there.
Hope this helps.
