Kinda similar to what I was saying but put in more detail. CNS does activate all the time, without it you wouldn't move at all. I'm not so sure its been talked about on this forum so much as in other forums on other sites. The more weight lifted the more your CNS recruits your body potential. A good way to TEST your CNS is frankly, add 10 more lbs than you've ever lifted before on a deadlift or squat, now have your spotter take a flat hand and smack you across the back as hard as he can (leave a mark if he can pretty much) you will most likely feel a sensation. This pain causes your CNS to activate the "fight or flight" in your body. Now get on that bar and hit that lift. You'll prolly hit it, you'll prolly get it more easily than you'd have got your previous max without getting smacked. What this is, is forcing your CNS to "wake up and work" prior to actually lifting the weight. This is a technique used among many strongman and powerlifters whether they actually know what they are doing or not, they know it works, this is the science behind it all. (not so much broscience, as this has been going on in lifting for generations, watch a few vids of contests and you'll prolly see it happen a bit) (DieHollywoodDie if you'd care to explain it better please do so)
