Bulking @ 30 +
Are you all finding that muscle growth is slow in your 30's or do you think genetically some grow muscle faster than others? I been on a bulk since late June, and seem to put on some muscle (I think), but I was expecting a lot more. What gives? I do have a super-fast metabolism.

I have to chuckle at this. Prior to the 4 month "bulk", how much experience did you have lifting weights? In reality, it isn't what gives it's usually what we didn't give that matters. The effort we didn't conquer or the diet we didn't nail down. If you post an honest daily meal plan and your routines, people will be able to offer better suggestions.

I could not gain a pound till I hit 30. At 30 years old I was 5'11" and weighed 152 lbs. I am now 34 and I weigh 211 lbs. I am enjoying my slower metabolism. My strength is way up also. Some people peak later in life.

Age may be against us but you can do anything if you are determined and figure out what works for you. Patience!

When I was 21 years old, I probably weighed 150 lbs and I couldn`t even bench press 135 lbs for one rep...(but I could run a mile and half in eight minutes 24 seconds!)
Throughout the years, I worked out on and off...but the one thing I`ve noticed as of late is that I possess more natural strength at age 34, than I did at age 21.
I look at my slower metabolism as a positive.

I got serious when I was over 35 and did not find it that at all.

I think one of things that gets lost here is that we gain strength as we mature physically. In the normal world, we're stronger at 25 then we are at 15. I believe it lends itself also to us having more ability at 35 to gain strength then at 25 as well. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

You can make gains at any age. Are you going to put on 20 pounds of lean body mass in a year at your age (and of course I mean naturally)? No, of course not. But you can definitely build muscle, it just takes hard training, a good diet, and patience.
I weighed in at Team Universe last week almost 6 pounds heavier (and more lean) then I did at my last contest two years ago. Therefore, I built about 3 pounds of solid muscle a year over the past two years. I don't think that's to bad for a guy 45 years old.

Lean growth will take longer in your 30's than teens but its still achievable. Keep liftin hard and eating right!

I think that the advantage of mental maturity and acquired wisdom can't be underestimated in how much it helps here. I know that I'm a whole lot smarter then I was 20-25 years ago and have to think much more carefully about what I'm doing.

Oh no... I'm not saying I'm going down hill at all. I definitely am in the best shape of my life ever in my 30's. I've learned soooo much! I'm just asking time-wise if there's any physical correlation to age and muscle building. I'm totally patient, but just want to understand if bulking would take longer at 34 vs. 34, that's all. Or, is age not even a factor - just everyone's body being different? Takes time and patience and I'm sure everyone's body is different.
