To eat or not to eat?

I hear some people say it's ok to eat some protein before a workout or a cardio session. Then I hear it's better to not eat before so you can burn more. I find it helps sometimes if I eat before a workout, but not before a cardio session. Any opinons ?

Hi

well it reall depends on what ur goal is, if its to lose fat, which i assume it is , then in that case its best not to eat before cardio bcus 1) ud probably want to vomit it 2)ud probably get a stitch .. unless u ate a hour before your work out then thats okay.

Also, wen u do cardio ur body burns sugars that u have had, once they are burnt then it will burn ur fat.... so try to have next to nothing before a work out..... after a work out u can have a low carb/low sugar/ low fat protein... i have one thats really low!!

called lo-carb delite by pro performance

good luck

If you want to start your cardio session with little energy, and put your body in catabolic state then by all means do not eat anything before you work out.

I would highly recommend against it. I usually aim to take something about 30min-1hr before my cardio so my body will have fuel to run off of. That way it will also have time to start digest and you should not get sick/nauseated from it.

I agree, I have to have something or I feel like crap during cardio, tire easily, no endurance, etc. Who wants to run for an hour feeling like that?? In the end, it's all about calories in vs. calories out anyway. Get that balanced at the end of the day and you're golden. The whole burning fat on an empty stomach theory is overrated imo.
