Firearm Enthusiasts please give me some advice
I recently have been looking into buying one of two guns. they are the Ruger 10/22 and the Kimber 1911 eclipse target II. If I had the money I would buy both, but since I'm on a budget I have to settle for one as of right now. There really doesnt seem to be a comparison between the two, but I looked into all the crazy customization that you can do to the Ruger and if I were to buy one, I would spend approx $500 total with the rifle, and the upgrades. whereas with the Kimber it would be $1200 and I'd be set.
The main things that attract me to the Ruger is the customization and the cheapness of ammo, you really cant beat $0.04 a shot compared to $0.45 for the Kimber. If you guys have any suggestions on what would be more fun to own, or if you have had the pleasure of owning either of these, any advice would be appreciated in helping me make a decision.
I will be getting one of these two, so please dont throw in comments about glocks, or sigs or anything else that is not related to the topic, thanks.
Cliffs:
-trying to decide between 2 guns
-Kimber 1911 Eclipse target II bone stock no upgrades vs. Ruger 10/22 with custom stock, scope, bipod, and 50 round mag's

I'd go with the Ruger 10/22 hands down. I love mine and don't feel bad when I'm out on the porch going through several hundred rounds due to the cheapness of the ammo (Get bulk federal ammo for $14.99 at Walmart 550 rounds).
Wish I had some pics of my Modded Ruger with me. Also if you haven't found it yet use this site for all your Ruger modding needs.

First, what other firearms do you own? Are any of them 1911s?
Kimber makes some nice stuff but that is a pretty steep purchase.
Why not get the 10/22 and an STI Spartan 1911? Two quality guns for the same price as the Kimber.
Just my .02

Def go with the .22
Most of my weapons (assault rifles, etc...) I barely shoot because of the crazy ammo prices.
It's better to have a tricked out .22 that you can shoot all the time than any other weapon that you will barely shoot.
Buying a .22 upper for one of my AR's soon, just so I can shoot the damn thing.
Also check out the .22 sub-sonic rounds. Sounds like you're shooting a pellet gun.

To me even the subsonic ammo is still pretty loud. The only really substantial dif is the Aguila Super Colibri 22 powderless rounds. And since they are powderless there is ZERO smoke. I can open my back door and pick off squirrels from the kitchen table while I'm having breakfast. Ballin....

as of right now I dont own any. I have shot mostly revolvers and some semi auto's but never a 1911. I just like the way that it feels in your hand and the way it looks. normally when I invest in anything I go all or nothing, so its gonna be top of the line, like i said with custom parts for the ruger or the best quality 1911. I think ammo prices really is the bottom line tho, i mean, 50 rounds in .45acp is about $30 where I live and thats just rediculous

oh and one more thing, I live in the chicago area so I really cant shoot out in my yard or anything. even if had the 10/22 I would still have to go to one of the shooting ranges by my house which kinda sucks
