You look lean enough! Unfortunately the tattoo will hinder your placings, but as long as your posing is smooth and controlled you should do well.
Which show are you competing in?

Looking good bro especially for your first show. Did you have any type of coach to help you with diet or posing?
I'll see you on stage man!

Ive had some help from a few people. Early on i met with a guy from Des Moines a few times and learned some posing. Through the rest of it Tavish Steele has been helping me. He did the Muscle Mayhem in Kansas City and did great. Most i did on my own but im following his lead for sure with these last few weeks. Ive read about so many different ways to approach things so its good for me to listen to him and not try anything crazy.

Thanks, man. You're going to do great. Remember, it doesn't matter what the scale says, it's what the judges see!

Haha, you say that so confidently, as if its a done deal. Don't worry about your tattoo's, they will absolutely NOT hold you back. Looking very good for your first show; or any show for that matter!

Wow.
I've been told by two northwest judges that if they had two competitors that are extremely close in placings, the one without the ink will win. I'm not saying his tattoo will make him place bad, just hinder it if it comes down to the line. Depends on how it looks on stage, some ink can't even be seen under that tan + lights.

I have heard the exact opposite, from judges. I really think the judge you spoke with is in the very small minority.

Good to know. Thank Alberto! I've gotten mixed opinions on the matter myself and feel that it shouldn't really matter as long as the competitor brings the right package : conditioning, symmetry, etc...

A few questions
While im actually getting replies this time i have a few other comments and questions.
Tattoos: hopefully it doesnt matter because ive got a few and im planning some new ones.
Coffee: ive cut everything but water and some black coffee out, do people cut coffee completely? right now if i dont drink a little id be a zombie!
Post contest program: im looking for something different to try for a bulking type program after this show. i like the power/hypertrophy split and possibly some kind of 5x5 program. i think i need to concentrate on basic movements and bulk up some. i also wanna go to a 3 day or 4 day split some im home to help with new baby, but at the same time i read about naturals growing well from bodyparts being hit twice a week so i thought of that too. What do you think for a program?
thanks

I'm with you on the coffee man. I'll mix some in with my protein shake in the AM and another cup at work in the middle of the afternoon to get me through. I really don't think its too big of a deal. Just make sure you're drinking enough H2O.

This is actually right, BUT the tat needs to be distracting and shielding definition etc. OTOH, if they are fairly minor and not really visible they wont dock you for it as they arent distracting. I have one on my upper shoulder blade and my shoulder with tanner on I bet most judges couldnt even tell you I had tats.
This is how numerous NPC judges have explained it to me. Its possible different orgs instruct their judges differently, but Id think the distraction "rule" would be pretty universal.
OP, you look really lean and great for a first show, nice work.

First off, you look freaking awesome! I have never heard of any judges downgrading a competitor for a tattoo. I've judged for past few years and never has that thought of downgrading someone for a tattoo crossed my mind. good luck!
