College Training - PACKED Gym
Alright guys, quick question.
Prior to going to college, I was consistently working out in a PAID only gym, whereas the one at my school is free for all who paid tuition, plus it's open for people to pay as well.
This gym is absolutely RAMMED, and the freeweights aren't so hot. They are scattered everywhere, and the barbell plates suck sh!t, they are in weird increments and there are not many at all, other than 45's, so slowly moving up is real tough due to a lack of plates.
So yeah, free weights = ridiculously RAMMED and FULL of people, but the machines are NEW and NICE, and reasonably accessable.
Has anyone faced this problem, where your workouts are composed of like 75% machines?
Thoughts?
Thanks,
-Steve

morning and mid-day workouts. That's the only way.
After 3pm here it just becomes a madhouse. I don't necessarily mind because my workouts are short and to the point, but it's best to lift early.

yeah my university's gym is a lot more packed than the YMCA i go to during summer. yeah it's packed, but most of the people there are girls, and in fact, hot ones. so even though i don't get as much space/weights in my university's gym, it's totally worth it because it's crowded by hot girls who bump into you... and my mid section gets great pumps as well.

My gym can get rather full at times aswell. I'd suggest changing the time you go. As someone said above, midday is a great time to go if you want the gym to yourself. I went at around 12:00PM today and there was only around 10 people in the weights section/machines section (that's a low number because my gym's pretty big). I've gone at 5:00PM and there's normally 30+ people in there.
So, my advice to you is to choose the times you go more effectively (if you can, because I understand that a lot of people aren't available at midday). If this is of little avail, perhaps you should start looking at a different gym that's bigger.
Good luck.

I had that problem and I finally decided to join a local gym and it was the best money spent all year
