Autism is described by those with it as having extreme sensory overloads. This is why many find it difficult to make eye contact, if they make it at all. There are also other forms of autism such as aspergers that are harder to see from an observer stand point.

Hmmm, this makes me wonder if I'm slightly autistic. I get physical pain when things get awkward in like movies and such and I have a bitch of a time making eye contact with people.
