Lora's Gettin' SHREDDED!
I thought I'd start a training journal here so...Here goes! A little background first...
I'm a BUSY mom of 4 kiddos, who we home school. We have a very fun, but very CRAZY life!! You name the activity, and chances are...we're involved in it! We have 6 horses and we rodeo all summer. We barrel race, pole bend, rope, trail ride....We kayak, river raft, ski, snowboard, swim...the kids are in swim team, one plays ice hockey, one is in orchestra, one is on the high school rodeo team...We jam school into all of this, and sometimes we squeeze in some house work...Laundry, cleaning...!!! YIKES!
For awhile, the nutrition and work outs were not really fitting into the program, and needless to say...I began looking...well...not so great! I guess that's why most people just assume that if you're a mom, you're going to look like it!
Since I don't really want to LOOK like a 40 year old homeschool mom...I was determined to figure out a way to get lean and fit in the workouts. That's where Turbulence Training came into the picture!
Turbulence Training. It's a whole different thing. TT turned everything I *thought* I knew about nutrition and training UPSIDE down. I was spinning my wheels with progress my whole life...Doing endless cardio, "dieting" to lose weight, doing LONG gym workouts, but without focus...I never had any results to speak of.
Now my workouts are short, but intense. I do minimal cardio, and it's not the slow, boring kind!! I do high intensity intervals! With Turbulence Training, I can get my whole workout in in about an hour, including the cardio! LOVE IT. Oh, AND the workouts are only 3 times a week! Yippee! I can do other fun things besides workout all day every day!!
I did a TT Body Transformation Contest a few months ago and changed my body more than I have ever done in my whole life! I was so excited about finally figuring out a way to get lean and even SHREDDED, that it inspired me to take it even further. I have the right "tools" now...and the right "formula." Now it's a matter of plugging everything in. I love it!
Now I'm doing another TT Body Transformation Contest, and I'm helping some friends along, too, which is really fun. I love the forums and this site because of the encouragement and comradary!
I'm going to start logging my workouts. Maybe it will be a help to some of you who are hitting a wall with progress! There is nothing more frustrating than spinning your wheels when you're trying so hard to change your body! I have been THERE!!!
Today is a recovery day for me--I did a brutal workout yesterday. So, check back tomorrow for a look at my current workout--Turbulence Training for Buff Dudes and Hot Chicks!

Welcome! It sounds like TT fits into your lifestyle perfectly. I had to glance over to see where you're from after reading the beginning of your intro. The barrel racing, etc. all sounds like a fun time!! How old are your children and is it difficult to home school varying ages? Just curious.
You look great in your photos!!
I'm looking forward to reading along as you post your workouts.

Thank you so much! I hope I'm doing this reply right...
My kids are 6, 8, 10, and 12, and it is HARD home schooling all the different ages! We are figuring out better ways to do everything all the time! The older ones are more independent with their work, so they can do a lot more on their own, but at the same time, the work is getting harder! The math is brutal.
The home schooling is worth it even though it's hard!

Saturday, September 19 WORKOUT!
I didn't do an "official" TT workout today. I just felt like doing my own thing today--Feeling kind of rebellious. LOL.
WORKOUT:
Weighted Decline Oblique Twist 24 reps @ 30 pound DB (3 sets)
Arm Curl 12 reps @ 25 lb DB (1 set)
12 reps @ 20 lb DB (2 sets)
Tricep Dips 30 reps (3 sets)
Shoulder Superset (3 shoulder exercises: DB flies, DB Bent Over flies, DB front raise)--Sorry, I have no idea the "REAL" name for the last 2...I know the flies...!) (3 sets of the supersets)
Elevated Pushups (one hand elevated on a DB) 8 each arm (3 sets)
10 minute interval workout on the treadmill--Level 4 incline. (30 seconds each interval)
3 mph, 5 mph, 8 mph, 3 mph, 8 mph, 3 mph, 8 mph, ETC! Total of 8 of the 8 mph intervals.
The intervals were tough. I think I might be ready to up the incline next workout to a 5. We'll see. It gets really hard at the end, but I just keep telling myself, "It's only 30 seconds of the sprinting!"
The weight workout wasn't as tough as it could have been. I was in a bit of a time crunch this morning--We had to get the kids out the door for High School Rodeo by 8am...
NUTRITION:
My nutrition was GOOD today. Here's what I ate:
Nonfat yogurt, lowfat granola
apple, roasted almonds
Turkey Sandwich on whole wheat bread (mustard only)--English cucumbers, lettuce, red onion, reduced fat Swiss, tomato
Salad--mixed greens, red onion, roasted red peppers, english cucumbers, bleu cheese crumbles
AND...Tonight we're going out with some friends for dinner. I will pick something like salmon...a chicken salad...something like that. I will probably have a glass of red wine. HOPEFULLY...not 2!
Ok. Off to get ready to go for dinner! WOO!

Hi Lora! Just saw you started a journal. I thought I'd learn more about this TT since I'm battling a couple of injuries right now. I lose weight really fast w/too much cardio (and I'm trying to gain weight and muscle) so I can only do a limited amount and keep it to HIIT anyway. I'm sub'd.
