hey hey!

Quiet day today so some time to check in and update how things are travelling.

Work is going well. last month or so has been awesome and apart from this week looking a bit quiet, thigns should pick up again next week. Happy there

Been swimming still and even started up some squad training. Been about 10yrs since i've done that but loved the 2 sessions I've had thus far. I had built up my steady state enduracne with flippers a bit but its a whole new level for me atm and im enjoying the challenge. the first session was more speed focused which I havent really done any of and it was a rude awakening but I held up well. Much better than I thought i would tbh. That was tuesday - i did another easy 2km yesterdya then squad again this morning. Today was more endurance based but still soem faster efforts - just more 200's and 100's repeats on quick pace. This session smashed me heh. Was struggling a bit but again held on to the end and got through it ok.

A lot of form things to keep thinking of but as fitness returns, that should be easier to keep in check. My first few laps are gorgeous but as i get tired it gets a little sloppy. Looking forward to building it up though. I should be able to manage 2 sessions a week and then do some steady state stuff on my own on other days.

Weights wise - some small improvements but elbow still bothering me as is the knee. Hips are the same as they always are. Tight and sore unless i have just released them. Frustrated that nothing has changed wrt that in months and months of very consistent effort - guess my only option is to keep it up so I'll do that.

Im hoping the swimming helps some of the issues i have and will wait and see on that.

Seeing the bronx tonight! Last time i saw them 3 of us drank 1.4L of vodka in about 30min then drank another 700ml on the 20-25min walk to the show and i dont remember a single song - not this time. Will be more sensible heh

Should be fun though!

hey matey great to hear the swimming is going well and that it will give you some focus now. post up some of those intervals, let's see some progress in the pool, ey?

bummer on the tricep, but as you said- just stick with it. may not have been a short term fix for ya- but eventually you'll be back. Keep the good stuff going in the pool and I have a good feeling that things will sort out. What lifts have been feeling good so far (not necessarily weight wise, but overall 'feel')?

the stars have aligned! today i only had a couple hrs work and have the evening off for the show so wanted to drop in and let ppl know i still care heh. i've been lurking when i can but mainly just working and when im home, eating or sleeping. Been busy so thats nice

AS for the sessions - i cant remember exactly what we did/do. Its ncie to ahve some one else doing the thinking for me for a change heh, so i just do what they say and try to do it my best. Motivation has never been my problem and having a few people around me, especially mid 30's women who kill me is doing the trick to get me working hard heh. We were doing some 50m sprint repeats and i was matched with a mature woman who was clocking consistent 32's to my 36's so that stung the ego a bit - first time sprinting in a long long while so im not too concerned - i'll get her soon

As for the lifting - i do OHP now, up to 12.5kg and thats fine as long as i dont go deep at all - any full ROM stuff, regardless of weight hurts - cant stretch it under load it seems. Back stuff is improving - making some strides on pull downs and machine rows, ahevnt played with too much else tbh.

Still doing my ghey glute stuff and pelvic stability work along with more stretching and rolling/releasing than any human should ever indure (especially for no reward)

Great news on the lifting front. Steady but slowly you'll get it back. lol at the mature woman kicking your arse- it better be Dara Torres Nah, I know you'll be out front pretty soon. So was that for 50m lap times?

as for ROM, no need to impress anyone. I know damn well from a shoulder injury what that's like and if anyone wants to tell me "hey, you're not touching the bb on each rep to your chest..." well fc8k 'm. I don't want another injury so I stop 2" or so off the chest and could care less about what the 'form nazis' want to say. I'd rather continue to make progression, keep good form and increase weights. Same with OHP - I don't go much further than 90 degrees at the elbows. Pretty strict ROM for me. Healthy shoulder is more important than impressing some joey on line or in a gym, heh.

Good things are coming for ya Matt- just keep at it. I expect to see that fitness start exploding again too. Good work dude.

heyo!

How are we folks?

Things ok here. Working flat out and training maybe a lil more than I have been. Some minor improvements there I suppose. nothing really better though. Hips still fked and tricep still niggling. Swimming quite well though which is nice and will be continuing with that.

Tis my bday today. 24yrs. Crazy. Have to work which is a bit lame but not so bad. Feeling pretty good today despite the 25 beers yesterday (serious). A rather long day but good fun for sure. Taking today easy before another 45hrish week.

Awesome weather here. Tanning up nicely.

About to bump my food intake a bit as swimming is getting more intense so want to be feuling that well. Kinda my full focus right now is swimming better. We'll get there.

Hope all is well - off to the pickle factory!
