I lied
be VERY wary of "sacks allowed" stats. They are very very inaccurate because it requires the guy keeping score to understand the OLmen's assignments on any given play. If the RDE gets a sack, and he lines up across from the LT, it's assumed that the LT gave up the sack. The offense may simply have the play designed so that the LT tosses a single hit and requires a chip from a TE that went in motion or a RB in the backfield, and if the LT does his assignment but the TE/RB fail on their chip and the sack is given up, the LT gets tagged with a "sack allowed"
it's not an easy stat to judge even when you really know the offensive playbook and assignments pretty well. When you don't know the team's offensive scheme, it is really tough to accurately portray "sacks allowed"
also, if I block homeboy for 3 seconds and then the QB, who is running like hell away from the RDE, scrambles right into the LDE that I have engaged and blocked perfectly, guess what? I just "gave up a sack", even though I blocked my dude perfectly, and if the QB had stayed in his pocket without getting flushed by SOMEONE ELSE'S ****ty block, there wouldn't have been a sack.
also, michael vick drops back to pass, takes a step to his right, hops to his left, then tucks and runs and my dude reaches an arm out and trips him up. Was that a sack, or was it a tackle for loss? Ask 10 scorekeepers and I bet you get 5 that say "tackle" and 5 that say "sack".
very inaccurate statistical reporting, and DAMN do I ramble after downing one of these damn Monster drinks. WOW.
time for the gym!

Saints have the best pass blocking line in the league hands down.

That is impressive, good tibits. I love Clady after watching him play live through college. I just got into an argument with a buddy on comparing Thomas to Clady. Actually that was after the Vikes game when Thomas stuffed Allen ha ha. He calls be biased but its the truth.
Clady #1 left tackle in the game

Thomas shut down Jared Allen all game right?
I didn't watch the whole game, but every play that I saw Allen wasn't even getting close.
He was getting dominated and he led the league (or at least the NFC I'm sure) in sacks last year.

2008 Left Tackle - Sacks Given Up
Ryan Clady gave up .5 sacks (#1)
Michael Roos gave up 1 sack (#2)
Joe Thomas gave up 4.5 sacks (#17)

Roos blocked for a running team. Clady blocked for a mess of a team in Denver. Joe Thomas blocked for the Brady Quinn/Derek Anderson horror show in Cleveland.
Roos is good, but he IS NOT in the discussion for the top LT

It's pretty easy to shut someone down when they aren't as good as advertised.

Best left tackle in the AFC.
Sorry, but true.

Yeah Thomas did dominate 60/60 minutes.
Sorry to those who mentioned JT, didn't read second page.
If the Browns could ever fix the RIGHT side of the line we would be in top 5, because the left side is SHUT DOWN with Steinbach and Thomas......and oh yeah we just drafted a stud to be 300lber name Alex Mack.

Yeah, but how was Denver's running game?
That Titan's oline helped get their backs over 2k yards rushing last season. Add that to the stellar pass protection.
I mean the Titans are playing in the AFC south against such DEs as Mario Williams, Dwight Freeny, Robert Mathis. And they played teams with other good pass rushers too.

He started at Center last week. I was worried because he was going against Kevin and Pat Williams from minny.......some of our best runs were right up the gut......Mack exceeded expectations............loving it considering EVERY SINGLE "EXPERT" had us taking Michael "Diva" Crabtree....

you have yet to make a statement as to why. Roos blocked for a running team.
...
ok, and?
Denver's team wasn't a mess last season. it's defense damn sure was, but that has nothing to do with the offense. I personally hate the Titans, but Roos is most definitely in the discussion, whether you choose to admit it or not

"advertised"? So James Harrison isn't as good as some advertisement? when was the last time an OLB broke 15 sacks and 100 tackles?

"advertised"? So James Harrison isn't as good as some advertisement? when was the last time an OLB broke 15 sacks and 100 tackles?

I was responding to the statement of Roos only giving up X amount of sacks. He was on a running team, and as you mentioned before, sacks aren't exactly a cut and dry stat. Its not a matter of admitting he is in the discussion, because he isn't. He is somewhere around 5th best, I can accept someone saying that. But the gap between 1 and 5 is bigger than just a few blocks a game.
Denver was a complete mess. They went through something like 145 running backs last season. If not for Oakland and KC, they wouldn't have been anything. And Jay Cutler wouldn't have been put on the pedestal that he was placed upon after last season (meaning the man isn't a top QB). Clady not giving up sacks last year is that much more impressive considering the backs that they kept throwing into the offense.
If Harrison was as good as people think he is, he wouldn't have been shut down by Roos.
Obviously my opinion is going to stand regardless of what is said here, but I'll keep my eye on Roos a little closer the next time I catch a Titans game. Between the Steelers game this year and last, the playoff game vs Baltimore, and the two Indy games last year, Roos did not impress me. He didn't look bad, but he didn't really stand out to me.

Watch out for Raiders LT Mario Henderson, since taking over at LT in week 15 last season, he has shut down some of the best pass rushers in the NFL: richard seymour, Mario Williams, Gaines Adams and Merriman on monday.

good DE's can play the run. Mathis gets lucky because Peyton puts up points so teams have to pass and play catch up.
and Allen is lucky to play next the Williams wall

no, that's true, you bring up a really really good point.
I'm still wondering why the heck Kansas City would trade Jared Allen AND Kevin Williams AND Pat Williams to Minnesota in the same year? I mean, that makes NO sense whatsoever.

WTF?
Pat Williams has been on Minnesota for the longest, and I'm pretty sure they drafted Kevin Williams.
Also for the guy saying Allen sucks and needs the "Williams Wall" he put up 15.5 sacks his last year in Kansas so SMH.

For a guy who always comes with the most weird obscure stats, that's the dumbest post I've ever read from him.
