Wow. That's worse than the time me and my workout partner were doing chest/bi's. The EZ bar was on the floor next to the power rack. There was this guy just standing at the rack, with 3 45's on each side of the bar at partial dead level. Now we spot this whole scenario upon entering the weight room and by the time we get over there, he's still just standing there. So my friend goes to grab the ez bar, and he says something like, "oh, I'm using that too," with a stupid grin and wink wink. I just stared at him like he was an alien, and he looks at me, stops grinning, my friend is standing there with the bar, so I ask her, "Is he using that or what?" He then just leaves, stops for a second and does about 4 triceps rope pushdowns, and disappears around the corner. ?

Well,
I finally got fed up and quit my gym and went back to eating fast food, not exercising, and drinking sodas...
Just kidding. I did get pissed enough to switch gyms. The new gym has three complete dumbell racks going up to 150 pounds. Three...
Three...
Bad things happen in three. For the first week, I was in heaven, even if a d-nozzle came in and wanted to go into the whole "look at me while I curl 20 pounds with bad form" I still had two racks to grab from...
Bad things happen in three and yesterday, three d-znozzles came into the gym...and yup... you guessed it...
WTF makes someone not only grab 20 pounds but also walk to the heavy end of the rack and stand there when there are empty slots, so obviously...OBVIOUSLY, someone has some heavier weights out? Why why why?
I am to the point, I think I will drop them on their foot and tell them to please put them away for me. The only thing that keeps it from happening is I have some great respect for the owner. I think I may have to talk to him about engraving his mirrors with the phrase "Don't be a douche nozzle, nobody is impressed with you curling 20 pounds."
Better gym though. They have multiple puke buckets and in two weeks I have seen the mop come out twice. I don't think we can avoid the idiots anymore. I just pray that spandex and leg warmers don't make a come back or at least I pray it is only on women. OMFG, leg warmers, spandex, big hair...I don't miss the 80's. I think gym hell would be what I just described, only it would include Richard Simmons...
Anyone want to sweat to the oldies? I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

I think gyms are so scared to lose mebers that they allow things like this to happen. Because most gyms (except for the truely dedicated gyms) make most of their money from people who never actually go or rarely go. My gym owner said she has 400 members and i honestly know about 12 people i see there frequently and maybe a few dozen ive seen a few times... the other 300 and something people must just be paying dues. I want to start a gym for the dedicated. where if people come to me and complain about your poor etiquette... i put your picture up in the lobby of idiots for the world to see. a few more complaints and your sorry ass is gone completely. where there are no db's under 30 pounds in sight. A gym with a wall of squat racks and not one thigh abductor in sight

This is the funniest thing Ive read in ages, the prime reason I built my own Gym at home. I have a young hispanic living down the street and He cracks me up every day. He comes outside with his chest all puffed out like he is solid or something ( I think its in response to me as I take my dogs out front after I finish lifting) its funny because the dudes Biceps are smaller than my forearms Lol. Just thought I would add this funny story. The only thing is I dont think he goes to the gym, he will come out in the morning looking like he's going to run then 10 minutes later he comes walking up the sidewalk. I watched him one day and he runs to the end of the block and walks back, I just cant help myself from laughing at him when he comes by my House.

Yes, you can use the 30's. But you have to go to the front desk and request them... and I've painted them pink for my own amusement. JK. I'm all for people using lightweightt, but it drives me nuts seeing these grown ass men who are 200 pounds overweight, on machines with the pin in like the first or second plate. Theres no sign of struggle.... theyre just going through the motion. At my gym... I'm welding the first half of the stack together on any machine in the gym. (which is very few)

No, but after our first set, my buddy says, "Was he doing anything?" Posing, I think. Those are the other idiots. "Look at me while I take an hour between my sets of 1X2."

Doing exercises on the only two squat racks in the entire gym that do not require the squat rack.
The guy that does random kickboxing kicks to the pads of the machines to get him psyched up.
The weird guy that sings and dances between sets in a girl/homosexual kind of way with wiggly, ass shaking and pointing at self in mirror.. very disturbing

Have you ever seen a really skinny kid with ripped abs... he has no real muscle to speak of but he's got a six pack. That's because abs really never get much "bigger" or more "cut" basically the leaner you are the better your abs will look. alot of people work their abs out just so theyre in shape and can support their heavy lifts. i recommend that. dont try to do crunches to a 6 pack cause its a poor way to get lean there for a poor way to get abs

The people that really kill me are those who read books while on the treadmill. I don't mean like glancing at a magazine, I mean reading f'n novels. There are 2 big ass widescreen HD TV's in front of the treadmills and they want to read a book while running (not walking, running). I can't even look up for more than a few seconds while running on a treadmill (they are too narrow and I am always afraid I will step off the belt and trip), so I am amazed at people who can read books and run at the same time.
There's one middle aged dude who is easily over 300 lbs who comes in there and sits on one of those lazy man's bikes (the kind of bike where you lay back and pedal). Anyway, he slowly pedals it along as he reads a book. I mean he isn't even trying to pedal hard or fast, he is just going through the motions. It's as if he believes that doing such pitiful "cardio" is going to allow him to loose the 100 lbs. he desperately needs to lose before he has a coronary. I applaud him for at least making an effort, but I desperately want to go over there and ask him what his diet is like (but I would be "that guy" if I did that).
But these people don't make me angry, they actually keep me from being bored as I go through the rigors of my cardio. The latest people to piss me off were a group of 4 people walking around the indoor track as I was running. They were taking up both lanes, so every time I came up behind them I had to stop to wait on them to move their asses out of my way. What's so irritating is there is a big sign that clearly says "Walkers in left lane in order to make room for runners in the right lane. Groups must stay single file."

If you don't rack your @#$% weights...
If you begin using a machine w/o checking to see if someone if in between sets nearby...
If you ask someone to "work in", change the height/distance settings, change the weight and then walk away w/o putting it all back...
If you wear 80's-90's workout gear (muscle tanks, Otomix shoes, those classic baggy pants)...
If you carry more than 1 gallon of water and consume less than 8 oz of it during your time in the gym...
you are officially a gym idiot.

To an extent, but I've actually increased my ab definition slightly by doing squats, presses and deadlifts, despite putting on more belly fat as well.

No argument that proper training helps to bring out the definition. However, you must have a lower body fat percentage for the abs to show at all, and that has almost everything to do with what you eat.
There is a saying that you cant out train terrible nutrition.

If you come to the gym, you do 1 set of whatever, and then you admire yourself in the mirror for 10 freaking minutes after each set, you're an idiot.

The only thing that REALLY pisses me off is lack of BASIC gym etiquette.
*Return weights when done
*Never use equipment that is being used
*Don't be an *******
I go to an "uppity" gym so alot of rich 40+ year old *******s who can't lift a dime. I'd like to see them try their **** at Gold's. At Gold's, I wouldn't dare pick a barbell or db off the floor knowing its in use.

Lets put this into perspective: 140kg is not a serious weight to be deadlifting - why would there need to be any noise?
If someone in my gym was making a lot of noise lifting that weight, damn right he'd be told to shut up!
If you find 140kg hard, it's probably best you don't draw attention to yourself.

If someone in my gym was making a lot of noise lifting that weight, damn right he'd be told to shut up!
If you find 140kg hard, it's probably best you don't draw attention to yourself.

Are you talking about grunting? I'm pretty sure he means banging the floor with the weight. There's no need to waste energy lowering it super slow.
I was the idiot today, loading up the barbell for deadlifts, taking a good long break after my warm ups and then, nothing. Won't budge. I don't know what the hell happened because it was only 5 lbs heavier than my 5 reps from monday.

The guy who uses the main aisle through the gym to do walking lunges, so everyone has to go around, walk through equipment, etc... It's quite a spectacle, and it's REALLY busy at that time for maximum inconvenience.
Seriously man, are walking lunges THAT much more beneficial than standing lunges?
