Does bigger---really equal stronger?
Does anyone think that it's impressive that a guy weighing anywhere from 230-300 can bench 315? These two guys who were about 6'3" each came into the gym the other day. They take over the bench that another guy had loaded up to 225. They both warm up on that amount and all 20 of the latins in the gym are like WOW.. Next they threw on two more 25's. And finally they load it up to 305 to do their last set of about 3-4 reps each. I'm 5'9, 168 and was doing that exact amount back in April. Now, being off of creatine, i'm down to only benching 275. Anyway, they both thought they were STUDS. At their height and weight they should be up to at least 375-400+. 400+ would have had me saying wow. Guess it's time to cycle back on some supplements to make the big guys look bad, and the audience scratch their heads in confusion.

Strenth is all relative. I could bench 455 at my heaviest max at a weight of 350. Is that heavy, yes, it could be light for somebody else.
IT is all relative, adn my thought is, you were at the gym right? I never cared less what anybody else was lifting unless they asked me for help. DOnt worry about them, I am not trying to be an as$hole, but what does it really matter. 3 plates is tough no matter who is doing them, especially at a commercial gym.

1. Benching 315 is not bad - but for how many reps? If its a 1 rep max for someone who weighs 230-300 ... then that's sad. I can do 315 for 2-3 reps and I only weigh 192.
2. Honest opinion - don;t let the dupe heads in your gym affect your mental note of what and how you are in the gym. We all have our moments when we see ourselves not as strong or as big as another person in our gym. We might see them wow people with their weights and nobody is wowed by what we do. However, over time I have learned that what matters is how well you do what you do - not how much. Its simple - there is no need for exorbitant weights. I for one have stopped giving a **** about how much weight I am lifting. I focus solely on the form of my lifts. If I can do set after set with good form and feel the burn - I am happy. What is even better, as my form improves, my body symmetry improves, so does my strength and hence the weight I can lift increases on its own.
Compete with yourself ... if you are not happy with where you are - change that, but make sure you do it because you want to - not because someone else in the gym is bigger and/or stronger than you.
Good luck.
In time you may find that people are stunned by what you do - because you do it properly, with great form and are still able to out-lift many and look bigger and stronger than many.

I think its pretty impressive. Much harder for taller persons to bench weight than shorter. These guys take lifting pretty seriously. Good for them. Don't hate bro, get your bench up and show them whats up.
Fred--whats goin on man? Hows the wife comin along with the new baby? Sounds like your goin have your hands full soon. Congrats!

this^^^ I'm glad for the cool summer--we didn't run the AC hardley at all. I think it has to do with the insulation we put in the house last fall also but cool weather def helped. Global coolin =nice summers. Lets hope the winter doesn't suck.
