Can someone please clarify? I don't not take any illegal steroids now, but I do take use Animal Pump, NO Xplode and White Flood for my workouts. I also smoke and drink.

Straight edge is a lifestyle in which you neither Smoke (cigs), Drink(alcohol) or use illegal substances(anything that can get you in trouble with the Law).
Some sXe'rs also refrain from casual sex (one night stands). Long term relationships do not apply however.

So the one question that still lingers is about supplements. Can you still take NO products, fat burners, creatine, etc. and/or any other legal supplement and still be an "sXe'r"...

Yes, I mean some choose not to but those aren't illegal drugs so I don't see why a straight edge person like myself wouldn't use them.

I don`t think being straight edge is that big a deal...You don`t drink and smoke (if you don`t consume these legal drugs it`s very likely you won?t consume any illegal drugs). And I think you`re interpreting too much in the intention of people who imprudently get sxe-tattoos. They`re just stupid, they don`t intend to disrespect anyone. And people change in life; I think it`s better if you`re straight edge for 10 years and then decide to drink again than to drink all your life. And I don`t see how (safe) premiscuous sex should harm your body or befuddle your mind, I think the movement started just as an anti-drug movement.....

hardcore shows refer to the type of music that straight edge came from, kinda seems akward to me sometimes when people refer to themselves as straight edge and they dont know about hardcore music, but i guess thats neither here nor there, just nice to know there are people out there who see a lil more to life than getting s**tfaced all the time so kudos to those who choose an alcohol and drug free lifestyle....and yes i have 3x's tattooed across my shin with gorilla biscuits on the back and have friends who have sold out its a part of life and if people arent your friends because you drink then they werent your friend to begin with

So I don't think I'll ever be a straight edge, but I do think it's a great lifestyle, my sister would be considered straight edge. Other than the 1 glass of wine or beer every 4 months, my parents would be too.

I would like to say that you should still be able to have fun and go out to places where people drink if you have the right mindset.

I realized last night that I could actually have fun while being sober. I have been drinking 3-4 times a week for about 15 years without missing a weekend. This is obviously really bad and I didn't even think it was possible for me to change, even though I have thought about it for some time now. After joining bodyspace and realizing exactly how bad alcohol is for bodybuilding, I have realized that I simply can NOT keep drinking if I'm trying to get the results I want.

I have tried to go out to the clubs with my friends and not drink before and all I would do is get upset, angry, pissed off, jealous, or something else. So I have never been able to be out with my friends, especially in the club scene and be sober and happy. I believe the reason was because I gave myself the wrong mindset. Now that I'm trying to think of a reason I would be sober before, I can't. Even if I had a morning meeting, I could always just have 3-4 beers and be ok, even if I was riding my motorcycle home, I could have 3-4... Very poor judgement on my part...

So, I went out Wednesday for cigars with co-workers, they were all tasting scotchs, I had none. I went out with my friend who was spinning at a club on Thursday, hung out there for an hour and a half and went home. I did smoke the green before going there and ended up just sitting there.

So last night I made my mind up. I was going to go out sober, and stay sober, but do it in the most tempting scene possible. The mindset I put myself in was that my bodybuilding results overall where more important than one night of fun. So I started off at my local bar, where I know everyone. I killed 3 big bottles of water. Then went to Temple nightclub, killed another bottle of water. Then went to SupperClub where I ran into all a ton of my friends, some on e, everyone drunk and on smash. I was obviously offered everything and anything every 10 mins. I ended up having 4 bottles of water. I even went to the underground afterparty at 2:00 and stayed there for an hour, same thing, except here about 80% of the people where rolling, and I was the ONLY one sober. But that's ok, I had another bottle of water.

Basically, I went out last night went to 4 spots where everyone does nothing but party. I was able to stay sober, and I actually enjoyed myself because of my mindset. I was thinking about bodybuilding while I was out, didn't even have a desire to drink. It doesn't hurt that my friend who I went out with to all the places supports my decision and didn't offer me alcohol at one point, actually just kept getting me bottles of water. BTW, I think I big part is always having drink in my hand, I guess a bottle of water is just as good as a bottle of beer.

Ok, I guess I just rambled on about my night, I guess I should have just made this a blog, anyways.

I went out last night and had a blast being sober. I don't think people should have to quit their regular life and stop being friends with people that drink just because you don't drink. If you can put yourself in the right mindset and actually stop THINKING about drinking you should be ok...

thats pretty cool man that you were able to do that good luck with whatever you decide as far as drinking or not, just think about how much money you save also by not getting involved with drinking that night

Decided to step outside the Nutrition thread and see what else exists.

Straight Edge is a HUGE part of my lifestyle. I live in one of the best 'scene' capitals for music. Shows over here can really turn out amazing.

I claimed edge back in December. Living with 3 other edge bros this fall semester so there will be four of us. I am so excited I can't take it.

I used to hang out with some EDGE people in VA beach about 3 months after that they all decided they not edge anymore and decided they were Drunkedge... then the next time they were back to being straight edge again...


I am not straight edge I have tried No drugs or tobacco but the drinking is a problem I mean I dont D&D I will walk home 7 miles... I walk to the bar usaully so I cant drive home

Props to everybody in this thread who is straight edge and proud. Nickedge, it's definately awesome to see such a legit bodybuilder rep straight edge so proudly, it makes myself proud to be straight edge as well!

Going on 6 years of straight edge now, and it is one of the largest aspects in my life. I've always kept an open mind towards other people and often hang out around friends who drink, i doesnt bother me. It's a personal choice and should never be more than that.

Does straight edge mean I never touch alcohol again? I mean, if I drink a couple times a month, I don't get to be part of the club?

I'm a bit older than most I see here, am I too old? I have 3 kids and a wife, and the amount of stress is overwhelming sometimes......I do like to get responsibly lit once a week or so in the privacy of my home and when the kids are asleep. It resets me so to speak. I've never been at the mercy of the bottle or weed, I seem to have no outta control issues, however, obesity is high in my family, and this sounds like a cool lifestyle.

Do you guys just feel a constant high from looking so good that the other vices arn't necessary?

Strraight Edge here. Always been. Never smoked did any sort of drugs or been drunk. I don't really drink any more. Maybe a beer every 6 mos or less. No steroids etc..Its all me...

In my life I've never felt the need to fit in with a crowd. When a situation came along about using drugs or drinking alcohol I had an established respect amoung my friends (who I chose carefully). So when I said no they already knew my thoughts on it. Eventhough they labeled me as different they still accepted me. As far as steriods are concerned I don't support the use of them or use them myself but I don't knock or judge people that use them. I just see them as different! Like Nascar and Formula 1 racing ideally the same sport but differnt concepts, and one being more dangerous than the other! As for me; I'm not just focused on the short term look I'm focused on long life and good health inside and out! That's why I choose the natual route (out and route I got rhymes for days son lol). Its all about nutrition not chemicals! "If the body doesn't need it why take it"? Thanks for your natual bodybuilding motivation! Stay up bro I'm out!
