What Is A Day Off?
Sorry if this question sounds a bit lame, but I'm never exactly sure what is meant by a day off. For instance if your routine calls for two days off before working the same body part, is that 48 hours or two calendar days. Say I work out for 1 hour on Monday morning and finish at 9:00 am. If I wait 48 hours then I'd repeat that body part on Wednesday at 10:00 am. However if wait two calendar days, then that would mean Tuesday and Wednesday are off days, thus I'd work that body part again on Thursday.

For me a day is 24 hours so 2 days is 24x2=48.
If you work out Monday morning and finish at 9:00 am. Then 48 hours is Wednesday at 9:00 (that would also be 2 days) If you waited till Thursday @9:00 it would be 72 hours or 3 days. IMO

Workout Monday. Rest Tuesday and Wednesday. Workout Thursday. Err on the side of more rest (you grow when you recover, anyway).

For me, it means a day in which I'm not touching the weights. But I may still hit the gym and do some cardio.

That's basically what I was trying to say.

Perhaps I titled this thread incorrectly. I understand a day off implies no weights. What I'm confused about is when a routine calls for a day off, does that mean 24 hours from when you finished your last weight workout, or does it mean an entire separate calendar day of no lifting, thus 48 hours in between workouts.

Ummm hold on a sec. Firstly yes 48 hours means 2 days, and 2 days means 48 hours. BUT>>>>
The whole purpose is to separate your workouts so that you are not retraining the same muscles. The 48 hours or two days is JUST a guide. If you are not sleeping much and after 48 hours that muscle group is still sore, then you should wait LONGER. You need rest and recovery time.
The process of hypertrophy is to create tears in the microfibrils of your muscles. When the microfibrils are repaired they grow. When they reach a certain size they cannot grow anymore and then they split. So in effect when we work on a muscle its a tear, repair, grow, split, repeat process. If you work out the same muscle group again before the repair and grow and hopefully split process occurs, then you are retearing the same fibrils and they will not grow as they are never allowed to repair.
48 hours is a guide. Be in tune with your body. If you feel muscle pain or are sore, then give it the time it needs.

Where is this "England" and how does one get in? Is it a club or something? Do I need a membership?

The calendar day view is correct.
