New here...just saying hello.
Thought I would introduce myself since I am new here.
I am just starting my 6th week of lifting. Like most I piddled when I was young with weights here and there. It was not until I joined the Army when I actually really started to get into shape, but even then I really only piddled with weights.
Now that I am nearing 43 and starting to see the signs that I am not as young as I used to be...I have excitedly begun lifting weights in hopes to improve upon myself and slow down the aging process.
I have already started to add info for my bodyspace with more to come soon. Plus I have figured out its best to stay out of the main misc. section of these forums so as not to get ganged up on by the internet gangster kiddies...so I figure I am off to a good start.
Thanks for all the advice that I have already read on here. Perhaps i can contribute in some way at some time.
Michael

Welcome Michael, it's never too late bud. I only got started at 51 and it's doing me a world of good! I'm sure you'll notice the same in the next few months. It's a great site and lots of help here. That search bar in the upper right of the screen offer an endless wealth of information as well.
Enjoy your new lifestyle!

Here is a HUGE welcome. This site is great for support and advice. A lot of great people who know what they are talking about. Don't be afraid to ask. Sadly, I am not one of those "in the know" people yet, but I am learning.

Hello!
Hello Michael. I'm fairly new here myself. I know what you mean about the other sections. It's been great here in the more mature section. I'm just getting serious myself at 57 yoa and the folks here have already been a great help.
Good luck.

Welcome.....
I read your profile and chuckled a bit at your comment on staying 'motivated'.
Well...I would never mean to come off as smug but regarding 'motivation' how about setting an impeccable example of a healthy life style and seeing your beautiful daughter thrive long into her adulthood.
This would be my biggest motivation.
I (we) did not take the 'kid' plunge by choice.....I like the simple life and I'm long time musician so that life style was not for me.
My respect to all of you that can endure the child rearing challenges.
Good luck on the quest....respectfully submitted, of course.

Welcome Michael, I am new to this great website too.
My advice would be to log in at least once a week and take advantage of all the good advice on offer here.
I've just done the unthinkable and LEFT my gym to save money but I have just finished kitting out my home gym in the spare room, its working out well so far.
Alan.

The only way to go as far as I'm concerned for many reasons.
Well done on getting setup on the home front.

Home Gym
Thank you Wayne,
I would have stayed at my local gym in Braintree (Essex, UK) but at the moment it makes better financial sense to train at home---I have retained my gym membership card and can always go back next year sometime, they also have a daily rate of ?4.50 so if I'm passing and want a bit of extra training that week then I will certainly go in.
I find I train much better at home at present, I get much more done as there are fewer distractions.

Thanks for all the replies. I read something new every day here. One thing I like to do before working out is browse some of the progress pages of people here...there are many who motivate me. Thanks!
Oh yeah...looking forward to my updated photos and measurements.
