Vortex Portable Mixer

From VortexPortableMixer.com
I bought this at the Arnold this year. They were selling them for $20, buy one get one free. The guy was holding one with water in it, and when I saw how powerful it was I HAD to have it.
It has a smaller plastic piece that spins to blend everything up. It runs off of 2 AAA's and is INCREDIBLY powerful for a little portable guy.
It holds about 16oz (i think) and has no problem mixing up protein shakes, creatine drinks, preworkouts, etc. I don't think you'd be able to put ice in it though. It's great, I can just bring my power with me and mix stuff up on the go.
So basically, you pour the water in and press the button. It starts blending astonishingly fast and you pour in your powder while it's still blending. It's so strong that it makes a loud "SHOOOOOSHHH" noise. So I always get people staring at me at work like wtf is that noise.
Next, pop the lid on. Now,the cool thing is, you can drink out of it while it's blending. This makes it great for preworkout drinks that tend to settle.
Here's my overall review:
Mixing Capabilities: 9/10 Mixes GREAT! Haven't had any issues so far with various drinks. Only downside is no ice blending capabilities, but it's portable, so what do you expect?
Appearance: 8/10 Simple, good looking with stainless steel. Only thing I don't like is there's no markers on the side so you know how much liquid you've poured in. I ended up making a small line at the 8oz. mark for reference. It would have been nice to have the measurements on the side, but no biggie.
Power: 10/10 Insane.
Overall: 9.5/10 Great product, I hope it has durability because I don't think I can live without it! BB.com needs to carry these!

At $20 I'd expect it to crush ice , glad you are satisfied with purchase! In my opinion, that's all that matters when buying something.

Thanks for your reply! I originally thought $20 was steep, but when he said I'd get another one free, I figured $10 wasn't bad at all!

No problem, everyone should have their reviews acknowledge by someone. Is the product bulky? It sure looks bulky...

The plastic is thicker than a typical bottle but I think that's to give it a little durability. In overall volume though, it's really no bigger than a standard shaker.

I guess I kind of see what you're saying, but you can't really compare a shaker to a blender... but to each their own.

I couldn't agree more with your review. You are spot on regarding the pros/cons of the product. The only thing that irritated me too was not having the measurements marked on it.
The size is basically the same as a standard shaker. It is big up top and curves down to fit into a cup holder.
I don't think I'll be able to live without mine either. My girlfriend and I love ours and they are way easier to clean and maintain than a normal shaker.
definitely worth 20.00!
10.00 each was a great deal

Cool! I'm glad someone else knows what the hell I'm talking about
Thanks for your input! My significant other has the 2nd one. So if I see another couple walking around with a pair of Vortex's, I'll know it's you! Haha

Normally I would agree with you brotha
but I guarantee you if you tried the Vortex, you'd definitely think it was worth $20.00. Hell, I'd even pay $30.00 for it. I've used it every day for the past week and it works as good as the day I bought it.
It's very well constructed and no shaker bottle or blender bottle can compare to it.
Give it five years and you won't even remember what a shaker bottle is

Don't knock it till you try it. I'm not a Vortex salesman, I just think it's a great product. Trust me, I was pretty skeptical too because it looks gimicky. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Plus it's really easy to clean. Just fill it up with water and a touch of dish soap for about a minute and it's golden. It cleans itself.
The only way you can tell me blender bottles are better is if you actually try the vortex. I've used both and Vortex kills anything out there.

Can't blend a packet of Myoplex?
I bought a pair of these as I'm on a liquid diet and trying to keep good proteins as a major part. First day I got it, opened it up, added juice (more than 16ozs) and started it up per the directions. Once the "vortex" was going I slowly started to added the powder. It choked after barely more than 1/2 the packet of Myoplex powder.
Are you folks doing something different or do you think I got a bad model? I bought it mostly on these recommendations and so far I'm ready to return if it can't blend a single packet, let alone 3 scoops of a gainer. Should I only use water? I used apple juice, which is obviously thicker than water, but milk would have been worse!
Thanks for any feedback.

mix:
whey
16 ounces of milk
PB
oats
and if it mixes, ill buy this
only thing i was worried about these is the power. or if it weakens over time.
edit:
no way am I using these to mix preworkouts/protein drinks. cause all those require is a little bottle shaking or spoon mixing.

It's not going to blend peanut butter, or really thick stuff. Thicker shakes will not mix well.
But of course, this thing runs on 2 AA batteries, so I don't know how anyone could seriously expect it to be as powerful as a standard blender. It's not hooked up to a car battery
It's good for pre-workout drinks, and other things that settle real easy... because you can drink it while it's mixing. If you want it for that purpose, it's perfect.
It does mix slightly better than a shaker or blender bottle, but it lacks when it comes to very thick things. I stick to wheys+some blends+pre workouts... the thinner stuff.

Just got a free one of these with a bunch of sample supps from a company called ******** (very good stuff btw)
ANYWAY. The vortex is very cool... but I think I might stop there. It is great at mixing NO or similar products. Thin whey shakes mix well too. Right now I have some cell mass in there (weight gainer) and I would give it a 8/10 on the mixing ability of something thick like this.
Overall, it is a cool toy, but personally I like my blender ball shaker way better, and I can get three of them for about the same price as one of these.

You can, but when you buy that thing and it doesn't mix anything, and you see the vortex perfectly blends anything that isn't too thick, you'd realize that you wasted 7 dollars.

The blender bottle is practically worthless in comparsion to the Vortex.
If you are trying to mix up an MRP or something that requires a lot of liquid and a lot of powder the Vortex won't work, but the Vortex perfectly blends your average powdered product.
I am a big fan of Cytomax and it clumps up impossibly in a blender bottle and if you put it in the Vortex you'd never even know it was there.
Definitely worth the money, it's one of those reviews when you read the negative comments and can tell that the people saying them have never used the product.
(Or are trying to mix up an MRP in it, which is stupid tbqh.)

Good look MBSowards. I don't know how people can honestly expect it to crush ice. The whole idea is that it's portable. And I can guarantee you it will be 10x more powerful than something at GNC. I love my blender bottles, but year, the Vortex mixes a whole lot better. Yes, you could also go to Walmart and buy the Hamilton Beach 20oz. blender for $11.88, but it's still not portable.
Does your blender bottle blend ice? No, well, atleast mine doesn't. Okay, so general consensus is that you cannot blend ice while you're on the go.
Will the Vortex blend your cat? No, but it is a cool little portable blender with a whole lot of power.

Hey, I have a question about the Vortex.
Does it have a lid? Could I bring it with me to the gym sealed and already full of water and ready to power up?
Thanks.

Yes, mine came with lids. It seals good but I don't know if you'd want to carry it around with water in it. Fill it at your destination.
