First meet 1824@198
Finally was able to do my first meet today. Alot of highs and lows as expected but overall a fun experience. I didn't feel like cutting and i was lucky because my natural bodyweight was right around 198 so thats where I went. Squats didnt go too well. I opened at 660 and missed it (pb in gym was 750) but I think I was just nervous and went on to hit that and then did 711. Bench went well with me benching just 3 pounds under my gym best at 452. Deadlift was great. Opened at 628 and smoked it then went to 661 and smoked that. On my third i went all the way up to 705 which would have been a 55 pound pr and I just missed it at lockout. I'll get the vids up hopefully soon and since someone is bound to ask, my raw lifts are 565,370,not sure but 645 for 2. I used a titan boss deadlift suit for squatting and deadlifting and a rage X for bench. Anyway, the point of my rambling is that if you are on the fence about doing a powerlifting meet like I was for a long time, I reccomend you do because you'll have alot of fun.

You did awesome today! I uploaded all of the videos and should have some time tomorrow to edit and upload. I'll do yours first since it looks like it's in high demand! Until just now I don't think I realized this was your first meet... you just seem like you have been competing forever! 10x bodyweight total is coming soon!

Crazy numbers for your first time.
Also, I remember you posting that you don't see the point behind using shirts and suits and that you don't like it. Look at you now lol.

I know ive completely switched sides. I think most of it was the false idea that the guys in gear werent really that strong if you took off the gear but after training with guys like Shawn Frankl and Mike Cartinian, I realize now that its not the gear, its the lifter. Personally, I would still rather lift raw but geared lifting is where the competition is so thats where I'll lift for now.

I didn't really start powerlifting till after my senior year of high school football and even then I was just training raw. This summer I decided to join Big Iron Gym partly through the posting of Michele in response to one of my threads here( thanks Michele). Then I started using gear for this summer and with the help of all the guys and girls at BIG this is where I'm at now.
