Soon as I get any good I'll let you know....
Seriously though, right now my big goal is to break into the top 1/2 of the over 40 rankings (regardless of size), so I'm no where near any good at this. Usually I am faithfully bringing up the rear and doing crowd interraction.
The good guys do a mix of PL and Olympic style lifting. The PL type workouts in the winter then the more explosive stuff as the season approaches. We kind of have a contest or tracking thing every year keeping track of our max front Squat, Power Clean and Push Press as these are a bit more related to what we do than Back Squat, BP and DL. This winter I'm doing BB stuff because I need to get some arms and calves before I turn into a weeble.
D/L, the top 2 are for distance, as you can see I release WAY TOO FREAKIN HIGH!! why why why do I still do that???!!!! For the caber the idea is to turn it over and have the end line up with you. Imagine a clock face on the ground with you as the center the idea is to flip it so the minute hand (the caber) lands at 12:00 exactly. They are actually judged by the time they would show (12:00 best, 11 or 1 next, etc.) Most don't turn, those are judged by the angle they were at when the end hit the ground (80, 70, 60 degrees et.) The trick is that you need to throw them above their center point to turn, so an 18 foot 100 lbs caber is like throwing a 100lbs plate (but 18 feet long) 9 feet in the air. all the time hoping you don't drop it and knock yourself in the bean.

Got a PR in sheaf 20ft. my best previously had been 15, and I turned the qualifying caber (usually an easier caber to decide who gets in the next round). On another post I had some pics from getting the farmers walk up and moving. That was 650, i was happy with that. Still finished bottom in the throwing stuff.

These pics were taken in Maine, we did stay with some friends there. I did go over to Scotland this summer for the Masters World Championships. It was cool because we got to stay in the area where my family was from and spent a lot of time doing the tourist thing. It was the first time I had been there.

There are some pretty tough girls. I wish I threw like some of them. All very strong ladies, and good friends. You should give it a try sometimes, they are always the most welcoming bunch in the lot.

Ah I was wondering if you would be there. One of my Facebook folks - a sister of an old high school friend - was talking about going to the Maine Highland Games.

I've always wanted to do a strongman. Next year I want to do a strongman and a Highlander (Strongman/Highland Games mix)
