cardio exercises that don't involve knees
I have an apparent sprain on my left knee from running sprints. Not sure yet how bad it is.. Will be finding out tomorrow. But I want to plan ahead and, assuming I have to avoid all knee-weight bearing or excessive motion cardio, such as treadmills, bike and elliptical trainer, and stepper, does anyone recommend anything aside from swimming (which I think would probably still hurt my knee) to substitute for my usual cardio session?
I plan to continue lifting weights for upper body, but Im trying to drop some bodyfat and would hate to have to just stop cardio altogether. Plus I need something to help warm up before an intense weightlifting session.
Suggestions appreciated.

If you have to stop cardio sessions till the knee is better than do so. Losing body fat is not about doing cardio. It's about your diet, so keep the tight and you'll be fine. Do some stretching to get warmed up before your lifting sessions.
Good luck, heal soon.

Thanks. Yeah, keeping the diet tight, for sure. I'll try the stretching and maybe the rowing machine. That may be OK on the knee. We'll see. Doing crunches and other ab work I think will help fire up the body temp pre workout, too. F'n injuries. I was really digging the sprints, too.

Another thought with training, throw in super sets, tri sets, drop sets and take less rest between sets.

Also you could swim but just not use your legs. I do this sometimes and get an intense upper body workout because you are using a lot of strength to pull your body..

Rowing is definitely not a good idea. The least strenuous would be swimming by far. If easily kicking your legs in the water with knees straight puts too much pressure on the knee, you have no business doing any other exercise that includes movement at the knee.

I have heard from alot of people, that ARC trainers are great for no impact cardio. My training partner swears by it as he had some knee issues due to excessive jogging.
