stretching to help the knee

what type of stretching can i do to help my knee to not hurt when i do squats? i hurt my right knee playing basketball a while ago and the DR said it was because i didnt stretch it. its fine as long as i dont bent it doing squats. but do anyone know if any stretches that can help with my problem?? thanks for the help guys and gals
