I am checking out 4 different sites and trying to figure which one will give me the best fitting quality boots for the best price.
www.wrestlingboots.com/
www.prowrestlingboots.com
www.highspots.com
http://www.rdwrestlingboots.com/
Anyone have experience with these? It looks as if the first two have made boots for WWE wrestlers.

I've heard differing reports on Highspots. Some people think they're brilliant, other people claim to have been stiffed and lost their money.

I've booked my plane tickets and I'll be flying out to Canada on 25th September! Staying in a hotel in Toronto for 3 days, then taking the train down to Windsor.
Can't wait!!!

The guys at RD also sent me a package beforehand with a clip of the types of leather they could use.

Thanks so much.
I'm not leaning towards (highspots) them for the boots, but the kneepad and elbow pad selection looks pretty good there at highspots. But if any of you can recommend another place for knee and elbow pads please let me know, thanks!

As far as AMA & Trace pads go, I'd pick them up from Highspots.

I am saving money, working on my strength, my look, and my acting skills. I am also working on a college degree just in case it doesn't work out, or it's not for me. However, I have a bout two years left until I am ready to start school down in Atlanta, GA at a school called WWA4, which is ran by Mr. Hughes (who took the Undertakers urn and beat him with it.)

I use a pair of knee wraps (not heavy duty), a pair of reversible neoprene Asics wrestling pads, and a pair of Trace pads on top. I don't have slipping issues, but I think as long as you get a pair that fit correctly AMA or Trace will do. I've always had a preference for Trace, though. They have a band on the bottom that if worn correctly (NOT tucked under) keeps pads from slipping.

I've got a pair of boots from Highspots that have done me pretty well. Although I didn't have to wait for them because I got them from a friend. Honestly I'm turned off getting another pair from there just based on the wait times!
Where do you guys get your gear from? I've been looking online but a number of my friends have been stung by places like EZtights.com. He walks them through the tight design and everything then after they'd sent through the money he just stops replying!

nike dri fit knee pads work real well and are a little thicker than generic knee pads, but arent as bulky as trace knee pads. only thing is they come in either black or white, thats it.

6'2 278 isn't really a fat bastard to me. Look at my weight, which I still have 150 to lose.

Yeah, but you can scare people off with that giant bicep of yours. Fortunately, I'm black which makes me inherently scary for some reason. Here's me about 20 lbs heavier and with much much less hair.

You'd kick my ass easily, really that bicep of mine photographs better than it actually is. Thanks for the pic, and you are far from fat. I've got a long way to go. I actually really like those kneepads the way you are wearing them, I am trying to get the right combo for the look I want. I need to find something close or exact to that. I think that's how I'd like my kneepads to look too, I don't want the back of my knees showing. So those wraps or whatever would work, I also like some of the AMA closed back kneepads, but I am still debating.

The knee wraps I wear underneath both sets of pads. I wear the neoprene on the bottom then the Trace over top.

No offence, but don't you shave your armpits? Most of the wrestlers in the UK do. Just wondering ...

So do most here stateside. I don't though. I tried it when I was younger when I first broke in, but my body in it's own way has told me it doesn't like being shaved. Besides, I prefer the look of body hair on me. I haven't had anyone complain (to me) about it, so I guess nature hasn't offended anyone.
I think people often believe it's a hygiene issue, but I'm just as clean as any other guy if not cleaner.

Not so much a hygiene issue as having someone's underarm hair in your mouth or eyes!

I have been shaving my pits for over 11 years, I just think it feels and smells cleaner, as the sweat doesn't collect on the hairs if there aren't any . Just my preference.

WWA4 is still running? I got a "home school" package from them when I was younger. Pretty good excel nutrition program. What state are you in?

William Regal and Brian Kendrick do, I heard. The latter is more shocking but sometimes you gotta put it aside. If you don't do something it won't get done so just do it.
I'm sure a lot do.

You could be the greatest athlete the wrestling biz has ever seen, but if you can't sell your **** and get over with the people, then you'll end up with nothing more than a bad back and bruised ego.
If you want to know what I'm talking about, watch TNA X-division. Some of the best athletes you've ever seen, the most acrobatic moves ever, and yet as pro wrestlers, they still suck royal ass. Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Sanjay Dutt, even A.J. Styles could all probably run 4 minute miles and do squats til the cows come home, but in 30 years they will be absolutely nothing. They can't sell, they can't talk, they can't act. A.J. sounds like a 2nd grader reciting lines in a Christmas pageant when he tries to cut a promo. They MIGHT be remembered as "those guys who could do all those flips, what were their names again?" That's IF they're lucky.
Dusty Rhodes, on the other hand, had a speech impediment. He had goofy looking hair. And he was FAT. But in 30 years you can bet your ass that wrestling fans will still know exactly who "The American Dream" was.
So in conclusion, no, it's not hard to learn "the entertainment style" of wrestling. Just like it's not hard to memorize lines on a script. Anybody with a brain and some spare time can do it. And yet, not everybody can be Tom Hanks or Robert DeNiro... hmmm....
|
This is an old post but I just want to point out that Sonjay, Shelley and Sabin are really good on the mic and just don't get any time to show they're more than just spot monkeys in TNA. Sonjay got a chance during his feud with Jay Lethal- I was shocked at how good his psychology was. AJ is getting better at talking all the time. TNA has made an investment in him and he's gonna be around for awhile.
Sabin and Shelley were great on MTV's Made and they have a look and style that reaches out to younger fans and both are naturals on the mic. Sonjay is also a natural heel.
I get what you're saying about spot monkeys but you picked the wrong guys as examples. If anything they won't go anywhere because of their lack of size, Sonjay in particular because Sabin and Shelley are going to last in TNA.
