Thanks buddy. Repps
I have a smith 1/2 rack and may buy a full rack soon. However, I think I would like those spotter stands to go with my new magnum breaker bench. My shoulders have been giving me trouble so I think this bench will prevent any undue strain to the shoulders without a lilft off. I am like you and would want the stands for safety.
Here is the bench they would mostly be for

My Doghouse
I just bought my last piece of equipment last weekend so now I can show off my home gym. My son moved out in July and his bedroom soon became my weight room! It would be nice if the room was bigger, but other than that it works out fine. I have been looking at home gyms on this thread for the last six months and I must say it has really helped me out in getting mine set up. Thanks to all.

Nice set up, 1SuperDad. How do you like the Lamar hyperextension? I see you're 6'4". Does your height give you any problems on the hyperextension?

Thanks fatburg, my wife just found that poem my son wrote 15 years ago.
Dac1, the Lamar Hyperextension is just a really solid heavily made piece of equipment. It adjusts to any angle all the way to flat out. I don't even have the pelvic pads extended all the way out but you can. It works great for me and it doesn't do wheelies! I have a bad back and it helps me out a lot. I've also toned up some flab in my back too.

Wow!!!
These home gyms are really impressive. My home gym is basically a dungeon where the severely mentally handicapped used to be chained. Its got really low ceilings, asbestos tiles, one dim light bulb, and a dark room! I'm so jealous of these nice big clean rooms with bright lights.
Once I get all my equipment built I'll get some pics on here.

Watching some of the gyms posted here ....makes me wonder ( qualitatively speaking ) why do they call them ,,Home gyms ,, anymore ? It's almost like a 1 : 1 comercial gym , some are even better !
Nice gym ( the last 1 posted here ) , i don't see the cables ....

All I can say is... you're not right. LOL. Your gym is sick man. I wish mine was like that. Maybe one day it will be close. Two thumbs up!!!

Finally received my plates the other day. Gave up waiting for Eleikos and decided to go with Ivankos. Still waiting on the olympic dumbbells though.

I made it with wood!
I was searching for DIY squat or Power cage on Google when I found your forum. I really like the pictures of the metal tubing home made cage. Unfortunately at this time I don't have 100$ to spend on the hardware, but I have a big pile of wood I got from dumpster diving the industrial parks near my house. You wouldn't believe what people throw away!
I used 2x6es for the main beam supports and 2x4s and 2x3s for the other structures. I found tables for horizontal weight capacity of different dimension wood joists and on a 2x6 inch beam, modulus elasticity is listed as 1030lbs and 648lbs for load per linear foot of beam on a 7 foot span. I can't even lift that much so, I'm golden!
I built this cage yesterday, I will add a dip and leg lift station to the front of it in the near future.
Total cost 0$ + 8 hours of my time! I got the wood from the trash and had left over nails, screws and bolds from diverse previous projects! If you want to calculate the price of new materials I would say 25$ for the hardware and at least 50$ for all the wood. It would probably be cheaper to buy a used cage if I had paid for all this stuff, but it was just laying around anyway.
I also included my el cheapo Canadian-Tire multi station gym with 260 lb stack, I also have (not shown) a punching bag, duct taped yellow pages (punching), and a stretching apparatus.
Some of you have really nice setups, I'm envious!

Impressive effort.
All I have to say is just be careful. When you start squatting heavy, the barbell has a tendency to transfer its momentum and energy into the rack. If the rack isn't stable on all planes (X,Y, and Z) you could end up with a serious accident on your hands... no to mention your back.
Be careful, bro.
