What Motivates You?
I realize this is a strange way to "meet" people, however, I wonder what motivates others in the gyms across this great country. For me, it is pure, unbridaled hate, I have always been a super aggressive, harsh person, and with the events of my life over the last year (been back in the gym about 5 months) it is pure hate that drives me to go work out every day. I can't go home and smash things, I can't hunt down my ex and whatever ******* she is with now and dismember them and dump their bodies, so I go to the gym and take out rage that way. It works fairly well for that purpose... What makes you do it?

Wow Bro. Those are some dark thoughts there. Just remember the harder you train, the better you'll look, the more confident you'll be and the higher quality of women you'll attract. Which coincidentally brings me to my motivation. Pics of women wh have worked hard and have the kileer bodz to prove it are what motivate me. Plenty of them here on BodySpace. Thank you girlz! Don't forget its better to let it go and walk away with your freedom. Take care.

I'm not a violent person in "that" aspect, I couldn't injure her if she spit in my face, just use it as motivation when I don't feel like working out. She was pretty top tier even for me being over weight as I am/was... Always been pretty lucky in that aspect.

you guys crack me up, I'm not a killer, nice photochop though, and I would never hurt my ex, I just use that as part of my motivation to keep at it.

by seeing all these fatbodies around me, by knowing im prob the most alpha out of any male im around, knowing i have friends that got their limbs blown off, or brain damage, and they STILL hit the weights with the same intensity as i, just being alive and having all my limbs to operate makes me motivated to be as strong as possible

What motivates me? Being bigger, stronger and more aggressive than the other guys in the gym.

actually bro, I've noticed that too... Last night I was on the treadmill and this HOT little thing got on the one next to me... I did 40 minutes instead of my normal 25 at that pace and elevation. I'm glad she left or I would probably still be walking on that thing.

Hell, what doesn't motivate me.
Seeing people I wanna look like. Seeing what I used to look like. I keep my old pants from before I started working out. All I have to do is look at them and it gets me fired up. I am also "angry" when I workout. There is nothing like pushing all the pent up fire from the day into my lifts. But, a lot of guys have told me they are afraid to talk to me when I am in that "zone" because they are afraid I'll snap their heads off.

When I do decline bench press, the knob that adjusts the knee/ leg rack goes up my ass when I sit down on the bench. THAT'S pretty motivating.

I use it as an escape from actually doing stuff.
Like homework, or having a real job.

Crazy night tonight, went out with some friends to a place I use to frequent when I drank. My ex was there, she frequented it often also with me. She came up and told me twice how great I looked, loved my shirt, blah blah blah... made me feel a little joy inside to know that she obviously was hurting or she wouldn't have said anything, thats just the kind of girl she is... thought i'd share...

I don't know about anger motivating me more than that it gives me the mindset in the gym to get another rep, another set. Thinking about things that get to you personally are great ways to push for more weight, or more intensity whether it be lifting or during cardio. As far as motivation I would have to say never being completely satisfied. I always want to be better, for myself. Getting better is more personal fullfillment to me than trying to show other people, although it can feel good to receive compliments. But I believe that the journey from wherever you begin to wherever you want to be is between you, your mind and your body only, and unless you are happy with yourself what other people think won't matter, so do it for yourself.

Seeing how much progress I've made. I've lost 60lb in the last year... from 300 to 240 at 6'4". Knowing how much better I feel. Hearing compliments from my roomie, family and people at work. Looking at people with bodies I want to have. And a cute little trainer in the gym who's also a transplant to WA state from NC like me.

My progress has been a big motivation also lately, I have been back in the gym for several months, but just recently started noticing the changes. I lost 6% body fat in the first 2 moths but my weight changed very little, started eating right and the weight has started falling off, under 260# for the first time in 3 years when my ex fiance moved in with me and started feeding me into oblivion. I was 258 this morning, love it!! Can't wait to be under 250, then 240, etc etc...

This is an old thread, but I have to admit I joined my gym because of all the hot girls walking around in tight clothing. Its not that i want to sit tere and ogle them or anything, but it drives me to work harder and keep pushing for that extra rep. I think a lot of guys with serious bodybuilding potential lose the drive because they settle down with woman that just dont turn them on. Hence they care less about being that alpha male that the girls go gaga over.
