Hey guys!!
Woke up late (8am) today...WOOO!!!!
I got to the gym at 9:30...took care of paper work...and trained a client at 10 (my favourite in person client...ironically also the one that got me fired from my old gym *but then subsequently got me the job at my new gym....*). Then I trained legs, did cardio, more paperwork, and left.
I'm off now to see a play that my cousin is directing, then chilling with a friend downtown.
Tomorrow, I'm shooting part of a documentary film with my friend Pete (Dedicatedforlif) about EDs...then going to watch him eat (he's a competitive eater...). Should be fun...I've never seen him compete, but it should be a REALLY good time!
Legs
- Highest weight only
Funky Smith Machine Stationary Lunges
1-legged leg press
Hack squat partials
SLDL
1-legged extension + Kneeling Leg curl
Adductor + Abductor
- 120 x 12 + 140 x 12 PR weight!!
POST workout cardio: 30 minutes Stepmill...HELLS YES!

Morning everyone!!!
I plan on doing some chest, back and HIIT today before I head off to meet Pete and the film crew. I'll be packing my dinner, despite there probably being some sort of BBQ type thing happening at the Sausagefest (I know that title doesn't sound right, but I promise, it's an eating competition )
I'll let you guys know how the workout went (I'm going to come home, shower, eat and post before heading out again), and then come back with a report on the filming.
I also gotta say, since starting the contest prep...I don't know what it is...but my body has never felt more out of whack. There's always been 1 - 3x/week where I don't sleep (at all!), I've gotten sick twice in the last 7 weeks (And I NEVER get sick...especially not in spring/summer), and T.O.M. is messed up. Last time, I tried to go to bed at 10pm (which is earlier than I've been in a while), only to wake up at 1:40, 2:20 and then for good at 5am. Two nights ago, I was in bed at 11pm, up at 2:15, up for good at 5:30. I'm going to try taking 5-HTP, and then put in an order for Scivation's Knockout...see if that helps. Maybe I'll talk to Layne too... I know it'll correct itself though
Motivation of the Day:

Welcome to the joys of deprivation! I didn't get my "T.O.M" for 7 months! Same thing happened last year. I chalk it up to lower BF and hormone changes. Never had the sleep problem, only in that I didn't want to get up in the morning...LOL! Take care Jaime and keep on pushin' on!

Hey Jaime, have you ever tried taking GABA? It really knocks me out if I take about 5g on an empty stomach right before bed. Since I've been on this stuff I have the best nights sleep ever. It's also meant to increase HGH levels.. bonus. Might be worth a shot!

Lol its not an eating competition. We filmed those in the states already for the documentary.
It's just a stunt, I go up between two of the bands. Pretty good line up there.
See ya kiddo, hope you're not scared of the cops....

Well, I'd really suggest you sit down and take a long, hard look at your nutrition, supplements, and your workout regimine. Something is screwing you up, and although you want to succeed in the contest, you need to make sure your overall health is in order. Everything you described doesn't really sound good, so you need to get it fixed.

YAY for filming! I'm so pumped for you Good luck!
That's strange about how you have been feeling. What is it that you have changed since contest prep? Is diet playing a factor? Are you on less calories than before? Over training maybe? Keep me updated. It'll be interesting to hear what Layne thinks. During my contest prep. I was tired a lot and had really bad night sweats (could be the low carb thing you mentioned in Rubes journal) and would wake up a lot during the night too. I would also say my TOM was messed up but I dont think it was because of prepping since it's been out of whack for a while now (before prep). Hang in there. Things will get sorted out.

I totally agree with Hoos here. Especially with looking at your nutrition and supps.

As a sign of my maturity banner I am still laughing at the fact you ate attending a Sausagefest......
Sleeping problems suck. Big time. I used to have a ton of problems with it in school where I'd have insomnia for weeks at a time a couple times a year. No so fun...... . I'd tried melatonin but it never worked for me. Hopefully you'll get it all figured out and be back to sleeping like a baby that ran through lawn sprinklers all afternoon....

Wow.
What an experience. What a special, amazing, unique, awesome, FUN opportunity. I met the producer and camera man for Pete's documentary outside the hospital for sick children today. They started by doing a mini interview with me, then they talked to both pete and I about our experience in hospital. Although we both had different destructive AND recovery paths, our stories are so similar in their own ways. I think the producer really got a lot of good insight into just what makes an ED tick. Pete is so easy going and non-chalant about the whole thing; it's really great to see just how recovered he is, and how well he's doing.
The highlight though for me was revisiting 7a (the eating disorder unit of the hospital). We went in together, with the camera off. I immediately started looking for nurses and PSWs that I knew. I couldn't see any (which I figured, because it's been 6 years), so I started naming people off to the receptionist...one of the dozen names I asked about was actually still there. I waited for her to come out of the TV room (she was supervising snack), and she just stared at me. A couple seconds later, she said, "Holy crap! JAIME FILER" and we hugged for what felt like 10 minutes (probably wasn't though, lol). She said, "Wow. How long has it been?", and I said, "6 years....and you still remember me?" And she said, "Some people we just don't forget." Now...that had to be one of, if not THE, best compliment I've received in a while. That despite only being with her for 2 months out of her 8 years at the program, she knew exactly who I was. I could've cried right then and there. Anyway, I explained what we were doing there, what I was up to, asked about the other PSWs, she asked about people I still keep in touch with...and then it was over, time to go.
She told me to "Stay healthy Kiddo." It was like when you're 5, and you make a painting, and run up to show your teacher...I was showing off who I was and saying, "Look! Look at me! Look what I've done, and what YOU had a part in!" I wanted to let her know that she (as well as some other key staff) had such a big hand in who I've become. It was really emotional....
We finished off teh visit, de-briefed it with the producer, then I got a little one-on-one interview while Pete went to eat. I think they were really surprised with how candid and descriptive I was about the ED. I guess now that i'm not ashamed of it anymore, I don't mind speaking as openly. I mean, if it can help others, then why not, right? Anyway, all in all, a kick ass day, and I was happy to help out, and hang out with Pete again.
That's it (oh, and I did hiit today, but not chest/back...no time...tomorrow i'll do it...)

|
It was uber fun!
Could be diet...I don't think overtraining. Unless it's the lack of sleep factoring in. We'll see if the OTC sleeping pills help. Hope so...
Thanks for the support

Hey Jaime! As you know from Facebook...I did meet Nichole. I met her before I realized who she was. She approached me at the gym on Thursday and commented on how great I looked and then described me as "powerful and elegant". I made a point yesterday to find her and introduce myself and thank her as it completely slipped my mind the day she approached me. A comment like that from a woman speaks so much louder than a man telling me I'm hot or I have a great body!
