You sure do have a lot of questions today....lol
Thats ok, i am bored. Anyway I use walking as my main kind of cardio. I am very large (365 pounds) so anything more intense may kill me. When I get doen to 300 pounds I intend on doing HIIT High Intensity Interval Training.
Oh and i do my cardio every day, 7 days a week for 1 hour a day. I walk at about 3-3.5 miles an hour. I usually walk in the morning, but the only reason is because I work at night and get off at 7 am, so I do all of my weight training and cardio in the morning after I get off of work.

I cycle at least 60 miles a week, and try to make sure that at least 40 of them are at 15mph or faster.

alternate moderate intensity cardio (75-80%MHR) 45 mins and HIIT (40/120) (all out sprint/cool down back to 80 %MHR).....6 days a week.
With this carefully designed split (designed it myself). i get the benefits of both type of cardio everyday. The extended increased metabolism for 48hrs from the HIIT and the instant fat burning state from the moder. inten. session.
basically...
Day1: 45mins
Day2: HIIT
Day3: 45mins
Day4: HIIT
....and so on and so forth
This as been working very well for me.....

lol-well with gas prices in my city being so high I decided instead of driving all the way to the gym on my non-lift days for 30-45min of moderate-hiit cardio I just run around my block several times-or run around block once, then go down into my nearby park (which is my backyard...lol) and just run the trails.
Oh ya on my lift days I do 10min of cardio as a warmup-then I lift, go back to cardio and do 20min...if I can-sometimes I'm just so tired I can only cram in 10min more-but thats still 20min total so its all good.

Thanks guys, some great options and variations. I like the boxing idea. Or a punching bag in general I hear can be a great sorce of HIIT. I have been using the stationary bike for HIIT after workouts. 3 times a week, a long with some incline walking 3 times a week also.

I do 30 minutes 6 days a week on the treadmill.
I will add riding my mountain bike soon while wearing my HR monitor.
luckykris, did I ask where in Chicago you are at? My last condo was on the NW side, Montrose/Sacramento area.

Right now I'm running on the treadmill for 15 minutes at 6.0 MPH, followed by 15 minutes on the elyptical. After my lifting that is.

45 minute spin class 5 days a week. On Saturdays I do a long semi-slow distance (I did 12 miles last week and increase half mile per week). Am hoping to do a marathon in October.
Have a good one.

I do HIIT cardio (on a cardio bike or just by doing sprinting intervals) for about 15-20 minutes 1-2x's per week with 3 days a week of weight training. I also usually do it about 2 or 2.5 hours after a meal and then have a PWO shake of 1/2 cup oatmeal (about 27 grams carbs) and 1 scoop whey protein (27 g protein) and about 5-10g micronized creatine.
So far this has been working for me over the past 12 weeks or so as i have been able to gain weight, strength in all of my lifts (especially bench, squats, and deadlifts), and stay just as lean or even leaner as when i started

I do HIIT 2-3 times a week and 45 minutes-1 Hour at about 80% of my max heart rate 2-3 times a week. Depending on how I feel or the day I'll walk the treadmill for 30 minutes. I like doing it on leg day after stretching cause it loosens me up a bit.

Last Week (really only the yard work varies) for cardio only
Tuesday - 35-40 minutes low intensity on treadmill
Wednesday - 35-40 minutes low intensity on treadmill
Friday AM - 35-40 minutes low intensity on treadmill
Friday PM - about 20 minutes HIIT on treadmill
Saturday - 2 hours of yard work
I'm counting the yard work because it can get really intense here. I usually supplement with some carb and BCAA's in the middle even. There are about 2-3 30 minute walks with the dog too but its such low pace I don't count it.

Yard work totally counts. I had 12 yards of mulch delivered to my house on Friday. Have about 6 yards left to spread. It kicks my ass.
Have a good one.

I'm actually trying something new this week. I'm going to lift/do regular paced cardio (10 min treadmill at about 6.0) and then about 5 mins on stationary bike with 7.0 resistance...mon, wed, friday. Tuesday and Thursday im going to do HIIT on either the Treadmill or eliptical machine....balls out sprinting for 20-25 seconds...walk for 30-45 seconds...sprint again...for 10-12 minutes. I was doing HIIT about 4-5 days a week...it is working but i was lifting those days too and more i read on it...its not smart to do it the way i was....thats why im changing it up this week.

Same here. I do this kind of cardio because it's what I enjoy. And now that warmer weather is here, running outside replaces the treadmill inside the gym.

I actually switched it up to 15 min. HIIT on an elyptical today, and to tell ya the truth I actually enjoy that compared to 20 minutes running on the treadmill. I think i'm going to do that more often, and up it to 20 minutes.

60 minutes 4 days a week fasted first thing in the morning. Works great.
I used to split it up, 25 minutes morning, 30 minutes evening but this works way better.
