When to creatine

so i just bought some mono creatine and i read this (http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=100831). On the second post it says you should be gettin it down post workout. That doesn't make sence.

Eh, you can take it any time really. The link provided suggests taking it PWO because your body has higher insulin levels and will be able to absorb it better. This is a belief and not a fact. Besides this, if you take it regularly your muscles will be saturated and absorbing it 'better' won't matter.

There is no magic time to take it. Just take it ANY time for a week plus to start feeling its effects.

Yea but most guys take it post workout to aide in recovery...that's when you muscles are depleted of ATP and that is when creatine is turned into creatine phosphate and then creatine gives away its phosphate so the cells can regenerate ATP in order to rebuild themselves

I would drink the 5 grams immediately post workout...then 30 min drink the protein shake...give the stomach time to absorb the creatine...it what i do anyway

It's fine to use in your PWO shake, pretty common.

I think 5g may be a bit much for your weight though. You will probably do fine with only 3g.

3-5g daily is sufficient and really can be taken anytime of the day. I have used it pre/post and at different times of the day and have honestly found that as long i have been taking it it hasn't made a big difference when it has been taken.
