Also, I did a Half Ironman Triathlon this past weekend in 5:00:18
26:33 1.2 mile swim
2 min T1
2:28:39 56 mile bike
2 min T2
2:01:04 Half marathon.
This was a 40 minute PR for me at this distance. Now if I can get my BF from 22-23% current (yeah I know) to anywhere between 12-15% I should be able to rock in in future seasons. Like I said before, a diet overhaul is going to be in the works in the near future. For now though, i am going to keep on my current plan for 8 more weeks until Ironman.

I've been biking with the kids over here, so not really much intensity to report ... Yesterday, they were totally gone at mile 15!!!
How is everyone else's riding going?

I did a number on a nerve in the back of my left arm (I think). Whenever I ride or mow the lawn, it feels like I'm getting stung by a bee. Wth? Lol.. So I'm taking a week or so off. Thankfully, it doesn't hurt when I lift weights. I'm a strange creature.

I get the impression I'm fighting off something (been totally exhausted and having a variety of nasty things hitting), so I've had to skip it for this week so far...I'm hoping to get a ride in tomorrow and Saturday and all next week in anticipation of a 50K I want to try to run sometime around the weekend of the 8th...

With the boys this past week, I have spent the time on working on riding with clipless pedals and cycling shoes! They have done well ... no falls, thus far!
I have been accompanying them on the Trek Hybrid with fat knobbies ...
OMG .. I have forgotten what a workout this bike can be ....
I do not have the clipless pedals on this bike and it is all heavy quad action ...
sets the quads on fire!!!

Just got back from the beach, got some nice rides in. I live in the mountains of West Virginia and this was my first time riding on flat terrain. I had a blast Monday I got in 42 miles in a terrible storm, rode in driving rain for the last 1 1/2 hours, but still loved it and kept a good pace. Wed I got in 30 miles, bad wind though still fun. Friday I rode 50 miles, low heart rate and breathing, my legs were just gone, I didnt have anything left in the tank.
Riding at sea level and flat roads was very surprising for me, I didnt feel my cardiovascular system was taxed at all, but man did my legs feel it, I kept a fairly high cadence every day staying above 90 rpm. The red lights and cross walks brought my average down a little. but when I was riding they were spining pretty good.

I beat myself up on Saturday and did 109 miles with 6000 feet of climbing... 5 hours 50 minutes.

riding in storms like that can be pretty intense, and wind is a cyclist worst enemy. Way to fight through it though.

I'm with you on the storms! I found out later that day that there was a lightning strike in the area I was in, that killed a man.
Thanks for the encouragement, I have just started riding in the last year, but I believe the bug has bitten. I still continue to run also, it just feels like the two are complimentary for me.

I agree. I care less about getting the bike wet (my earliest objection) and instead am worried about either the condition of my clothes that I carry with me to change into at work or if it is after work, that these retarded drivers, who can barely stay on the road at the best of times, will manage to plow into me and I will then get the exquisite pleasure of watching my blood mix in with the dirty water to form a much eerier mud...if I get caught, I get caught, but yeah, will not do it intentionally.
New bike post is up.

After the ride I ran for ten minutes to see how the legs felt. They felt pretty good (considering) so i called it quits. When we had left in the morning it was overcast and threatening rain so I left my Endurolytes in the car... after a couple hours it was hot and humid so I felt sick by the end because I hadn't been getting enough salt.
All in all it was an eye opener and in 5.5 weeks it will be IMWI race day.
P.S. I am racing a sprint on Sunday. I got 3rd in my age group last year at this race and I am hoping for 2nd this year.

When I'm out strictly on a ride and its warm, I don't mind at all. Commuting to work would be another story.
Some drivers are real turds, no doubt, but I have to say that most are pretty decent.

All in all it was an eye opener and in 5.5 weeks it will be IMWI race day.
P.S. I am racing a sprint on Sunday. I got 3rd in my age group last year at this race and I am hoping for 2nd this year.

I hope to get up to a century before long. I really admire you guys who can ride that distance and then get off and run to see how your legs feel.lol
I have had some problems with salt also, I find myself craving salty foods frequently, too much sweating I guess.
Good luck on your sprint Sunday!

It is a great over-all street and light off road bike. I cover about 73 miles a week on it right now and it hasn't done me wrong yet. My apologies for not responding sooner...busy...busy...
