2009 o
I must say that there are alot of interesting opinions and good points on this one. The 1st thing I have to say is that anyone counting Cutler out is just crazy. If Jay is in peak condition he is still the big guy on the block and should win. He made crazy improvements from Fri to Sat last year and by recent MR O standards should have retained the title. BUT, he was obviously off/holding water Fri night! As far as all the other contenders.......with all the talent there is......who knows who will win this year? So many things can effect the outcome, which makes this year one not to miss!

nope
If you win a competition and then win it again, you've "defended" the title, not reclaimed it. And again, Arnold never lost. He simply retired, then came out of retirement....but again, he never had the Olympia title and then lost it. After he won it, he never lost it, so he couldn't have "reclaimed" it.

Personally, I think its a poor choice ruling someone out of their chance at winning this year. Cutler, Heath, Dex, Kai, Vic, and Wolf are all amazing when they come in spot on, and this year its gonna be close.

I guess everyone is wrong and you are the only correct one. Make sure you contact the article author about Arnold reclaiming his title in 1980, and give them a lecture on how that is incorrect.

Then the author misused the word.
But really, I feel that it's using the word in a way that is not in accordance with its definition.
Unless it was in that article talking about Ronnie in 07 and or somethin and it said it specifically in the context "only Arnold has reclaimed his title, but no one has ever lost the title and come back to reclaim it" or somethin like that. But even then, I'd say that it's misusing the word "reclaim"
Anyways, why would i contact the author? I read a lot of wrong stuff all the time, doesn't mean I bother to contact the author, lol.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/reclaim
"to restore to a previous natural state "
"to demand or obtain the return of "
"to regain possession of"
So according to the dictionary...you gotta lose something before you can reclaim it.

So if Arnold retired he did not lose the ownership of the title the following year when someone else won it? So what you are saying, Arnold held the title along with the new winner. So we had 2 people owning the same title at the same given time?
Arnold lost the title whether it be by losing, or retiring or not being able to compete. He still lost the ownership of the title.

ugh, over it. Yes you have to reclaim it if you come out of retirement such as arnold did as someone else has it, you dont. You are not the defending champion as you dont have a championship to defend.... you lost it when you willingly gave it up by not competing and someone else won it. They are now in possession of it. simple.

Soo the defending champ wont be in the top 4? Not with the bbing politics we love and know!

He's got the size but...
As a Cutler fan I saw some recent photos of him and he told me that he is at 315 to 320 right now, but to me he looks bigger. He might want to start now if he's going to get to his Olympia weight. He's not looking to ripped. Even if I am a fan, I might have to say Cutler may be in the top ten but not in the top 3

Well I do have to say the pics I saw were from about 3 weeks ago on his Myspace page, but still just the other day he said he was pushing 320. Maybe he won't pull a Wolf and go low carb at the last minute

I really cant believe people count Dex out? He looks awesome to me. And better then most anyone. He has a very pleasing physique "lines, muscle bellies, super tight midsection"..
I wish the monster erra would end with Ronnie. He was the best and thats final. Now I like the more streem lined bbrs like Dex, Ray,Levrone,Flex..They just look the best over all to me..

How many of you think that Jay Cutler is telling the truth and will make a big come back and take the Olympia this year and how many of you think Dex will keep it. Or Will Wolf or some other guy come from the lower ranks and take it? Give your opinion. Jay is one of my favorites and I knew the night of the final judging he lost it last year. Will he make the same mistakes this year?
|
Historically nobody has ever lost it and come back to win, I would imagine once the ifbb has passed it on from someone it is highly unlikely to pass it back.
I have a feeling neither DEx or Jay will win but who knows.

Good point here Arnold never lost the title he basically retired while holding it, then came back and retired again while holding it.
