Question Sets

i was just wondering if people do as many reps as they can in one set or a certain number becuase i usually do as many reps as i can on the last set of a workout

I do one warm up set of 15 on a light weight and 3 sets of 8 on the weight I currently lift. However, I try my best to calculate the weight that I will get to about 6 or 7 on on my last set. so if I have it right, I fail and don't complete the number (even tho I try like hell every time)
