Shoes for MMA
Do you train MMA with shoes on? I was considering getting a pair because where I train almost everyone wears them to avoid burns. Also, what should I look for in a pair of shoes for MMA?
Thanks.

I train barefoot and so does everyone else at my gym. Your better off just dealing with it to toughen up your feet. Imagine getting some mat burn with your bitch feet in a pro/ammy fight?

Everyone at my gym trains barefoot as well. Your feet callous up eventually.

the only time I would ever use shoes is maybe in a grappling tournament where leg locks are illegal.

Personally I train with ankle braces. But I am the only one in the gym who does it.
Should I have the choice I would use grapple Socks ( http://www.grapplesock.com/) but having size 16 feet... makes it hard to find things to fit your feet.
Hayabusa recently released a new sticky sock as well ( http://www.mmawarehouse.com/Hayabusa...p/hay-1014.htm)
My problem was grip, I throw a lot of kicks and I was slipping on the canvas.
Word to the wise, if everyone else is using shoes, you should too. And you might want to ask why they are using shoes. But if I have on shoes, and you dont, and you stub your toe on my shoes.. You aren't going to be happy.

If you are going to fight with shoes on then train with shoes. If you aren't, then barefoot is the way to go. I would suggest the latter.

ppl wear shoes for wrestling class and boxing, that is all.
Oh, and sometimes if someone has a broken toe or something they will wear wrestling shoes to BJJ class.
