NOW Adam & Hairloss?

Just wanted to get the general consensus on this.

While browsing through the boards, I was awe-shocked when I read that a multi such as Now ADAM (which has been cited as one of the best vitamins available on the market) can contribute to hairloss.

What's the word?

Also, what is everyone's take on natural test boosters (ex. Tribulus, Zeus, BlueUp, etc) & hairloss?

the vitamin doesnt cause the hairloss necessarily...if you are genetically predisposed to it, a vitamin such as NOW adam with the nettle root and the others CAN aggrevate it, but if it only takes a small dose of nettle root to shed some hair, it means you will probably lose your hair soon anyway. Nizoral shampoo is supposed to help

i've had 2 bottles of NOW Adam and never noticed hairloss. were those ppl taking a PH also?

As far as I read, they were not specific. They just linked NOW Adam to hair loss.

It just struck me as very odd.. I couldn't decide what in the vitamin could possible aggravate hair loss.

no they didnt use a prohormone.
Technically, the vitamin COULD aggravate hairloss in people susceptible to it. It wont affect most people though.

OMG I have been taking now adam and have been losing my hair ever since Ive been taking NA. Will my hair grow back if I stop taking it!!!!!??? What in NA causes this?

Probably not, but that is still the ingredient in question.

Yes - it should and as far as finasteride goes, watch out for libido loss.

You guys will not believe how much hair I lost taking this. Agian I ask will my hair grow back if I stop taking NOW Adam or is it permanently gone?!

Well for one STOP taking it regardless as it's giving you problems. Will it grow back....maybe but you might have to put in a little effort to do so. Pick up some DHT blockers and possible Rogain or equate version of rogain and you would have a much better chance of regrowth rather than just sitting around waiting.

Because my thinning hair is really bothering me. So I figured it would be worth a shot, assuming I don't get any bad side effects (I'll have Nolva on hand in case of gyno flare-up). Also, hair loss is the main thing keeping back from taking the plunge into AAS, so I'd like to determine if I react well to Finasteride, because if I do then I'm pretty much covered.

Any "chemical castration" wouldn't be permanent. Finasteride only has a half-life of 6 hours, so it's not really a big deal if I get side effects from it. The only thing I'm concerned about is the increased chance of gyno, but I'll be sure to keep Nolva and maybe an AI handy in case of any problems.
I just pulled the bottle out of the mailbox (bought it as a research chem) and it is orange and sweet as candy! lol

what other multi vitamins contain this? So I can avoid them. Im thinking of buy opti men would that be safe to take?

30 mg of Nettle Extract is NOT going to make your hair fall out, lol. If it did have this profound of an effect on DHT, don't you think Nettle would be a hugely popular natural "hormonal" mass gainer by now since most acknowledge that DHT can and does play a significant role in MP synthesis?

Even if this dosage WAS going to cause any negative effect on your hair, you have an equally small and ineffectual dose of Saw Palmetto that would offset this.

I would say that anyone attributing major hairloss to NOW Adam or any other multi is simply experiencing a coincidence, and was going to lose it anyways.

With regard to no libido on fin/propecia...The vast majority of users experience a drop in libido for the first 1-4 months, but get it all back as the body normalizes and adapts. This certainly has been my personal experience as well. That being said, we all respond differently, so gauge for yourself.

ok I just bought AST Multi Pro 32X does this contain stinging nettle root? I looked and didnt see it. But just to make sure. BTW as soon as I stopped taking now adam multi V my hair slowly grew back. But it left me with a serious receeding hairline.

No, multi pro is mostly a multi vitamin/multi mineral. Not much in the way of "support" or herbal additives.

The concensus here is that coincidence aside, multis are not causing hairloss, so why does it matter?

Generally any formulas that have ingredients such as Nettle, that people speculate MIGHT cause hairloss, also contain Saw Palmetto for prostate health. If one was to say that miniscule doses of nettle would increase DHT enough to cause hairloss, that same person would also have to concede that the miniscule doses of Saw Palmetto were blocking DHT conversion as well, therebye rendering the increase from Nettle etc. null and void. To look at it any other way would be inconsistent.

That being said, I doubt that either have much/any effect in the doses included in multis.

I just read the label on Optimen. It has Nettles. Is that the same stuff???

Source Naturals' Life Force doesn't have it.
