Should i feel sore after lifting?
i lift 4x a week and every time i lift i make sure the last couple of reps are very challenging and hard. during the workout i feel amazing like im getting a huge pump.. however i am not sore after, nor the next day... does this mean im not working hard enough? even though i feel im really pushing myself through my lifts? i hope this doesnt sound silly. i even have increased in some weights, still not sore?
thanks

Neither pump nor being sore is an indicator of a good workout. DOMS doesn't affect everybody the same way. I hardly ever get sore. Only unilateral leg work gives me DOMS anymore.

if your anything like me...it all depends on the split. if im doing one muscle a week, my chest/back/triceps/legs get sore. if im hitting them twice a week...nothing gets sore.
my biceps/shoulders never get sore no matter what split i use

This says it all.
If you are making progress towards your goals, why would it make sense to be concerned as to whether it hurt along the way?

After 17 years of working out, powerlifting, strongman, etc... I can tell you that there is no formula to figuring out how sore you will be, or what that soreness will mean. NOTHING kicks my butt like a strongman competition. But consider that a competition is typically sub maximal weights and low total performance time (I think we figured out that my last comp had less than 5 minutes of actual time with a weight in hand). A typical training day is just as long (3 hours), involves about ten times the volume of work, heavier loads, etc... less DOMS. So is a competition better for developing muscle mass or strength?
It was a fair question, but the answer is "who knows... don't worry about it."
