Ok to eat a banana after workout with my whey shake or no?
Topic says it all? I figure I need some type of carb alongside my whey protein after a workout. Are bananas the right choice? If not, what is? Im trying to LOSE fat by the way.

What makes you think it would be either the right, or wrong choice?

Of course it's fine. Will replenish your liver glycogen nicely. And the antioxidants post workout are an added plus.

a moderate-high GI carb at a 2:1 carb : protein ratio is recommend PWO
the types of foods don't matter as much as the amounts of food you eat at the end of the day, just maintain a caloric deficit at the end of the day and that is your ticket to losing fat

Yes it's fine. You don't need dextrose nor gatorade. Depending upon your needs you may choice something else in addition to that.
And to the comment about it replenshing liver glycogen - to be clear it will replenish muscle glycogen as well - it is by far not all fructose.

I could go on an all fruit diet and prove everyone wrong that says this, but I'm too poor to afford it. It's the same thing as saying "Nobody ever got fat or stayed fat from eating a big mac."
Oh yeah, I eat 1-2 bananas in my pwo shake every day whether cutting or bulking.

lol, I know what you're saying. Of course anyone could get fat eating anything, but the overall point still stands.
Most people get fat from eating calorie dense crap. Fast food, sugary crap, processed crap, etc. Not from fruit.

Whats wrong with having some fruit? It is a simple carb which will spike the insulin, moving the protein faster to the muscles, the exact thing that dextrose does.

Who cares? As long as a banana fits in his macros, it dosen't matter if he has a dozen bananas.
Have the banana, it is fine and actually will make the protein work more effective.

Yep - potassium - good for rehydrating
If you read aragons pre/post w/o nutrition thread, it says you should have some carb with your protein - banana is as good a source as any
