Jumping the gun a bit who's up for another challenge and what does everyone think about making the next challenge a July/August summer challenge. Even if it's just about damage control. Summertime is higher activity time but also high calorie time..lol
FOR SURE I'll be needing to go the distance as there is another 70 lbs or so to lose and muscle to build in the process.

Thanks! ... Keep it up, uber dad ... you're on the way ...
One of the things that has helped me throughout this whole process is to just keep the big picture in mind. Working toward several long range goals now. I still let myself take a cheat night each week, and I enjoy whatever I want. I hiked the Grand Canyon last weekend, and since I was on vacation, just ate whatever I wanted. After I got home, I was still a couple pounds down on the scale. Got home on Monday, picked up where I left off and hit the gym. I should reach the ultimate weight goal of 200 lbs by late summer/early fall I'm thinking. But it doesn't really matter. I'm going to be in the gym for the rest of my life. Totally addicted at this point -
It's all about the big picture.
Awesome progress!!! Everything you've said above really resonates with me. I don't have a timeframe in mind anymore, it's all about the big picture and making health/fitness a consistent part of my life. Recomping is a slow process, as I'm learning, and I can't put my life on hold to do it so I go out and have a good time, then it's back to the gym.

Looking great!

I really appreciate all the support, accountability and camaraderie from the 2 challenges, and bb.com as a whole. They've given me the tools and mindset I need to continue on my recomp journey. I think it's going to be a solo process for me going forward. I'll still be around, so if you all start a new challenge, I will certainly pop in to offer support when needed.

Great points. I realized that if I'm going to get lean and maintain there then I need to figure out now how to incorporate my life. Rather than take away all the drinking/pizza/goodies I figured out that I can have them and still get to my goals (albeit slower) but it keeps me sane and from burning out. Truthfully I could probably be at 200lbs right now but I wouldn't have had as much fun along the way.

Agreed. I don't really see it as a competition anymore just like a support group/log and I like seeing others progress & sharing my own. I'm down to keep going though
Update on me: Taking this week off to let my body rest. Weighed myself last Saturday & I'm down ~4lbs since 4 weeks ago so steady progress.
Next week when I get back in the gym I'm thinking about adding cardio back into my routine for the 1st time this year.

I think the challenge ended up meaning more of a challenge to ourselves although it did start in January with an actual competition. Ultimately we are doing it for ourselves.
I was thinking of something like a 2 month accountability type "challenge" or just an ongoing thread. We decide ahead what our goals will be, post them and continue on the way we have in the thread. Even if it's not necessarily something you can measure outside of pictures. Summer is busy and activity will be down but that's ok.
Guess I'm just afraid to go it alone right now..lol. I do belong to another group/thread but this ongoing "challenge" thing has really pushed me to make some serious changes.
Jan 1st 270 lbs .....projected by July 1st 230 lbs
I have to focus alot on weight because of my size but there have been other unmeasurable gains like the improvement in my diet, the motivation in training and the muscle I feel but can't see yet. Thanks alot to you all as well.

So I haven't been active at all this week (desk job to couch @ home lol) and I look slimmer than I did a week ago. It's strange.
My last workout was last Thursday and since then I've just been relaxing and eating pretty much whatever (oddly enough I haven't been that hungry all week either). But I'm noticing changes in the mirror more each day. I'm not complaining I plan on starting back in the gym Monday fully rested and I'm going to weigh myself this weekend to see if it changed from last weekend (hopefully under 230 )

lol I know you are ! When you break it into smaller time frames it's doesn't seem so long but then look back, this all started 6 months ago. After we do our 3 month comparison pics we should put up Jan 1st/June 30th pics as well.
Although I may not make that 230 lbs now, not far off. I think I'm going to start watching your numbers for motivation ..heh. It's SHOCKING to me to think I will be in the 220's possibly in July....when your 310 lbs you can't imagine it.

What's up peeps?... haven't posted in a bit. I had PRK eye surgery done on a whim(see link at bottom). Just went in one day and 6 days later i was getting my cornea scrubbed and lasered. LOL.
I had to not lift for 6 days. and then only could go half hard this last week. So i will just use the stats from the weekend before the surgery. They will only be a week early. I just didn't take any pics.
Needless to say, i slept and laid in bed for 3 days straight then was confined to the house for pretty much 3 more. My diet slipped a little. I probably had too many carbs and about 12 too many oatmeal pancakes. What can i say, feeling lazy laying around and the Xanax made me not care, hahahha... no regrets though. Felt nice pumps this week, even with light weights.
I will give it another week and take measurements and maybe pics. Highly unlikely that i will be at a gut skin fold of 22 though. I felt pretty weak and flat leading up to the 6-20 measurement. So it seemed visually i had barely changed. Like usual. but once again, i can't make the numbers lie. Everything went down so i am happy. Just getting my diet back under control this week and next. I will probably be 209.6 next measurement on July 11th, lol. Hopefully with a much less gut skin fold.
Date---3-28-09------6-20-09___Change
Weight-209.6 --------204.6_____-5
Fat % -16.82%-------12.7%______-4.12
Gut skin fold - 30.5--- 22_______-8.5
Side skin fold - 15-----10_____-5
Waist - 35.75---------35_____-.75
Gut - 36.25-----------35.5_______-.75
Lean Mass 174.35-----178.6______+4.25
Fat Mass--35.25------26_____-9.25
I will see where i am at on the 11th and decide what to do from there. Probably try to lose a few more mm on the gut. Would like to get to mid teens before i start gaining in october. No Scratch that S-H-I-T! My goal by october IS 15 mm on the gut measurement.
My final pics are up for this forum I didn't have time for measurements but I'm still at 163 after a going up a few pounds a few weeks ago from slipping up on the diet and eating too many carbs.
