I woke up feeling terrible, edgy, lethargic, and tired--decided to add some carbs to my diet to help me get in gear. So I ate 1/2 cup of Quaker oats, 2 tsp. raisins, 2tbl. honey (raw/unprocessed), and 12 almonds for Meal 1. Whether it was psychological or not I began to feel better--had a productive 50 minute cardio session (static/cycle), and overall regained a sense of well being and strength. I plan to keep the rest of the Game Over diet intact and assess everything over the next 2 weeks. The extreme carb depletion was not working for me. Everyone is different, so a variation was in order. Let's see how the weigh in goes next week. Rick.

I will never do this again. I was playing the weight game strategy to qualify, and it worked.

Just a quick question about the Cut Diet, I was wondering about how to factor in other calories from certain foods. I mean 1 oz of almonds has 15g fat but according to nutrition sites it also has around 5g carbs 5g and protein as well. Other foods are like this too, so if you don't consider those calories then won't you be overeating? I've seen this question posted before but I don't think it ever got answered.

Sugar free jello
Is sugar free jello ok to eat? I know it's not in the book , but I guess I thought seeing as it's ok on the keto and other low-carb diets maybe it would be ok for this one too.

Only count the main calories, ie. Almonds = fat source. Count the fats. Follow the diet as laid out, and watch the magic happen.

I'd try it out and see how you tolerate artificial sweetners. I noticed no difference when I had SF jello or crystal like 10 times a week as when I didn't.

No offense, and thank you for answering, but I'd love to hear Marc's or Rob's opinion. It is, after all, not even a solid food. It's just gelatin (a processed version of collagen), plus water, sweetener, food coloring. What do you think guys? Is sugar free jello ok?

Done the cut diet before, going for a second round (love it). Quick questions:
For non-carb days, I know blueberries are ok'd as a fruit, but I'm not big on them. I've been using strawberries for mixing in things, still got results last year. This worth changing or not too big a deal?
This time around, I'm adding psyllium powder to my first meal, should I count that towards my carb count or still eat some veggies?
If you knew ahead of time you would not be able to eat a carb refeed on a given day, would you plan around it by eating the carb meal the day before or after? (i know its not ideal, but very rare situation)
Thanks for the help!

If strawberries worked for you before, you COULD use them again, but there's a reason Derek and Marc chose blueberries and grapefruit. These are the optimal choices.
Still eat veggies. PH offers a different type of fibre.
Eat it the day after.

Carb Load suggestions
My husband used the Cut Diet for his 1st show this spring, in which I might add he took 1st in his class and 2nd overall. Now it is my turn for a show.
I prepared all of his meals and helped with all the planning and even ate clean along side him but, here lies the problem I do not like oatmeal or sweet potatoes so is there anything else I can use for carb load?
I know you are not suppose to change that meal but, I have too!!
Any suggestions would be great

I actually am looking forward to my mini-cut I would like to take after Derek's lean mass CHA plan for me. Probably about late September or so, I would like to be 13-14% bodyfat by my 21st birthday in October.
Can oats be subbed for sweet potato? Just wondering, as they can be eaten raw (so I could take it with me if I take an evening class) + sweet ptoato makes me SOOOOOOO full!

I already read the entire book, and am willing to start my cut diet tomorrow.. but I still have a couple of questions:
- I practice wakeboard, but not as a competitor, only once or twice a week (2 sessions of 30 minutes each day). What changes should I do on my diet?
-My goal is only to lose body fat, so I can start gaining muscle with a lean body. I don?t wanna compete. I realized that the last week?s program of the diet is specific for those who are competing. So should I just skip this part of the diet?
Thanks in advance!

Also if someone have, let?s say, 25% of body fat. If this person follow the diet sctrictly, after aperiod of 17 weeks he would still have a large percentage of boby fat, right? So what should he do? Repeat the diet until he reaches the amount of body fat desired?
PS: I, personally, have about 16% of body fat right now.

- No need to change your diet. Just count it as a little extra activity
- Yes, skip it. Just stay on the diet as you've been doing.

But my wakeboarding sessions are pretty intense. Normally I get even more tired then when I workout at the gym. It would be a good idea to take supplements (such Xtend) while practicing?
Also, as I live in Brazil, I?m having a hard time to find Vasocharge (Xtend is already in my hands). The lack of it on my diet will dramactically affect my gains (or loss)? Are there any good supplements out there that could substitute Vasocharge?

I forgot to mention that I will be training first thing in the morning. The book says that it would be ideal to have Vasocharge + Xtend 15 minutes before working out with an empty estomach. But I only have access to Xtend. So, would this affect may gains/ loss too much?
Tahnks agains!
