So today I did it
Today was the day I met a personal goal I set for myself back in January, to bench my own weight. There'd been my ups and my downs, the days where I felt like nothing and the days where I felt great, days where I just wanted to quit out of frustration, and days like today that make me realize why I'll always do it.
158 pounds isn't much to a lot of people here. There's guys here on this board who can dead lift, clean, and fold me in half as easily as their laundry, but I have to put it in perspective. December 3rd my bench was a meager 90 pounds with a bodyweight of 140, and I feel I've come a long way from there both physically and mentally.
I know I've still got a long way to go to where I really want to be. Years even, but I think I'd not of been able to achieve my goal had it not been for this forum, and it tolerating my sometimes stupid questions. So thanks guys.
Now my next goal is 200... That'll take some time.

Congrats Hallock!
Just remember that in the end the numbers dont mean a thing. They are just a way (one of many) of judging your progress.
And dont forget that not all the numbers getting thrown around this place are actually real

Yeah, I know that. Numbers are a big motivator though, they give your something a bit more tangible to work for. The inch on your chest may take months, and you'll never notice it while it's happening. Hitting a mark feels great though.

Great job man. I'm still not able to bench my bodyweight, so I commend you on it.
And true, numbers are a huge motivator.

I shot up pretty quick on bench when I first started. I went from being able to do 135 like 3 times do being able to do 205 for 2 in less than 6 months. Good job, keep working at it.

That IS impressive progress, great job man. If you work hard you can set any goal you want to reach, and I bet you'll get 200 sooner than you think. Good luck with it!
