Exactly, i mean damn who gives a **** if hes not at "his best", its freaking Ronnie Coleman man, to have him on stage again wud be great, same with Levrone....i mean i look at it in terms of other sports i love, since im a Yankees and Rangers fan, it wud almost be like Paul O'Neill or Mark Messier coming back for a season for either the Yankees or Rangers, i mean even tho they wudnt be wut they were, i wud be happy as hell, as gay as that might have sounded....

I think it's great to see him come back, while hes been doing this for so long it would be hard to completely quit. Interesting to see what shape he can get back into for the show.

Right on point. Coleman also said today that he was off in '07 because of the back, which he injured about 10 years earlier and it progressively worsened. Amazing when you think about his 8-time run was done with a bad back.
He also said that he still feels that he should have won in '06 when he finished as Cutler's runner-up.
It's not like he's been away for 15 years, so all of the ripping of Coleman going on is a bit out of line, IMO. But that's why we all have our opinions.
Bottom line is if he does come back one of the all-time greats will be back in the spotlight again and Coleman is a lot of fun. He takes this **** seriously, but has fun doing it. It's hard to knock a guy with his attitude.

Hmm..cant wait to see what Coleman has done in his time off. I know in 2008 he looked like he lost alot of muscle, but, with his genetics, im sure he could easily pack it back on by next year. That means he rested a good 1-2 years, still training, but not heavy or hard.
He lost size at 2007 olympia because he trained very light that whole year. I hope he doesnt make the same mistake. Im sure he is not coming back to win, just to do what he enjoys doing and to please his fans

Ronnie is the greatest of all time, but I honestly believe that the game has changed. It seems that symmetry is back with a vegence (look at the transformation in Dennis James' physique as of late- and the positive placings that have resulted from it) Unless the King focuses on his conditioning (instead of feats of strength) I'm not sure if the comeback will have much of an impact.

Lets face it, he's not going to come back looking better than he did in 2007.
Ok he loves it, but why not just keep in shape and do guest posing/work on supplement business.

I think he will be as big as 2007, and may look better from his back then he did in 07. But, will be hard for him to rank well with all these guys like Cutler, Greene, Heath, Wolf, Jackson, Freeman and others all looking good and symmetrical.

Ronnie's conditioning is always some of the best. If he was in his prime he would absolutely destroy the field this year. The game hasn't changed, the players have. Jay didn't win last year because he wasn't even close to the best, not because the judging changed.

He would get an automatic bid. Here are the qualifications:
How to Qualify for the Mr. Olympia
1. The top 6 finalists from the previous year's Mr. Olympia.
2. The top 5 finalists from the same year's Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic and Night of the Champions.
3. The top 3 finalists from any Grand Prix or other professional bodybuilding competition held subsequent to the previous year's Mr. Olympia.
4. The overall winner from the same year's Masters Olympia.
*5. Any former Mr. Olympia winner has a lifetime eligibility.*
6. The Organizer may, with the approval of the Pro Committee, extend one "special invitation" to an athlete who has not qualified in accordance with the above criteria.
Additional Factors
1. Where warranted, the IFBB has discretion to increase the number of qualifying competitors from any professional bodybuilding competition.

He further stated that any talk of him tarnishing his legend is nonsense and that he does this "for fun."
Ronnie was very open and candid and a pleasure to speak with.
Although he may not be the same Ronnie of old, a professional like him will make sure that he is in the right condition for this. The way he looks during his guest posing routines is not an indication of contest shape.
Coleman further stated in the interview that the time off (especially to recuperate from his back surgery after the 2007 Olympia) will be an advantage for him.
Hey, listen. If you never had the opportunity to see Ronnie on stage at the Olympia, then this is a chance to see a legend on his own turf.
Everyone is expecting the worst. I don't think that will be the case. This is not going to be Babe Ruth on the Boston Braves.

Well, Jay really didn't win the year before either...But that's the whole point. Victor (who has mass and symmetry), Dex, Kai, Phil - even cats as big as Freeman and Wolf have the lines/fullness/taper. I really believe that it's a different time in the sport right now. I can't see Ronnie being that competitive . All this **** happens in cycles anyway - which is why Flex never won the "O," it was the mass era. The BEASTS will dominate again...in another six or seven years.

He's not going to win, but I could definitely see him in the back end of the top 10. Ultimately all sports rely on the fans, and the fans will want Ronnie. And to the above poster, he is entering because he enjoys bodybuilding and for the fans. Only 3 guys a year have a legit shot at winning the O', so should the rest of the guys not even bother?

x2. Good post.
Seeing Ronnie on stage and competing again would be awesome! Only seen him at the Olympia 3 times .

Hopefully with the time off and a year to train hard he'll come on stage looking beast.

I believe that he can get as big as he was in 2006, which means that he could be the biggest competitor. But unfortunately, his symmetry will be off.
Problem was in 2007 that he was 40 lbs lighter than in 2006 because of diet and training...
