Deadlifts hurting my back

I've noticed lately that deadlifts are starting to hurt my back. It might be because I'm lifting heavier?... Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I perform single leg deadlifts instead? It's almost as if my legs are stronger than my back. My legs can handle the weight...

It shouldn't hurt your back if you have proper form. I hurt my back when I first started them by doing too much weight too soon and without using proper form. Ever since I got the form down, I've moved up from 150 to 220 lbs without hurting my back since that first time. Here is a good explanation: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...BDeadlift.html

Hope that helps! I absolutely love deadlifts, lol.

I agree. Get someone to check your form and lower the weights until your back is ready for more. One thing you may be doing wrong form wise is keeping the bar too far in front of you instead of sliding it up your shins. Either way, yes your legs will be stronger than your lower back. Done right, most of the load should be on your posterior chain.
