Drinking and muscle size
Well last night I went out drinking, have a lot on my mind. Didn't get home till 5 AM. Had Capt N Coke 8, Heinekens 10 and ended it with 2 shots of Hennessy on the rocks
Right now I am dehydrated and I took a look in the mirror and I am flat and I swear I am smaller! How do people drink and maintained their size is beyond me!

Man, that is a lot- I get sleepy after just a handful of light beers.
But you know BH, what would have been even more impressive, is if you had lifted while imbibing all that...

Sounds like one of my usual week nights.....a long time ago .
Bottom line; alcohol can act as a diuretic. If you supp with creatine, which I believe you do, you helped drain water from your body. You should actually weigh yourself. At your current weight, I'd guess you might be 2lbs lighter than usual today, but you'll gain all this back within 2 days...and probably by tonight.

me: why do I have a headache at the base of my skull...
dad (next day when I was hung over): your brain cells are dying!!!
me: OOOOOooOOO, darn it
2 drinks max for me, 3 and I R drunk.

Right now I am not on creatine, but I normally am. I did weigh myself and I am 4lbs lighter! I was trying to keep drinking water in between shots and beers but that sh!t was just getting in the way

Actually no, I was just angry after I drank! So it didn't work out the way I planned, does it ever?

Whats going on with you that you drank. You said that you had a lot on your mind. IN my experience, drinking gets rid of the worry and anxiety for a little while, but when your done, you are more anxious than before. It then becomes a cycle that can lead to self medication. I did not take you for a drinker because you have always seemed pretty devoted to lifting. I hope that you are able to talk to someone and get through it. Whatever the case I wish you the best. BY the way you drank a ton. You must have a high tolerance. Not good my brother. Liver is not happy today I bet.

Ahh just a bunch of BS with my relationship, but its all good we will resolve this one way or another, I have a very bad temper and I typically just go out for a walk or a drive when I am upset, but since I am upset at myself there was no where to really go, so I met up with two of my boys and we just drank up a storm. Although they did more than just drink.
My liver? My whole body is not happy today

Simple, the rum and coke is what did you in. You should have kept carb loading on the beer. =)

I've a feeling this will turn into another 'if you drink you're an alkie / dependent / blah blah' threads.
John: Nice effort. Sometimes it's good to have a blow out. You're a sensible guy who loves his gym time, so it not like this is an uncontrollable habit.
I've heard that a glass of wine increases vascularity. I think there's a limit though otherwise you'd be like the guy in the movie Scanners with that lot! Hehe....
My birthday today and I'm out on the lash tomorrow. I'll try and see you or raise you if I can remember how many.
Cheers

If you drink like that often you wont keep your size. It sets you back at least a week to drink like that. At least.....

Sounds like a recipe for pukage if doing compound lifts, but I wonder how that'd work out for calves or forearms, where the pain sometimes ends the set before muscular failure?

Holy **** bro, well done. You were really putting them away. I'd be destroyed drinking that much now. I used to knock back a good amount of Scotch back in my mid 20's when I was going out more but haven't touched it in a long time. **** would burn a hole through my stomach now. I'm more of a plant person. No hangovers.

If you can remember it at the time, a few aspirin and vitamin B complex before bed will alleviate the next morning headache.

I've never had a problem drinking and holding size - even in the days when I was training very seriously. That said, my idea of drinking is 4-5 beer of a late afternoon or early evening, not an overnighter hammering everything back, though in the distant past I've had a few of those, too - just hate the next morning feel.
