vanity is a taboo.
no-one likes to boast they dye their hair, wear make-up or have had plastic surgery either.
we should all be effortlessly beautiful.

Like most of you have said, I starve myself and then are shocked to hear that I eat as many calories as I do.
Also as many have noted, "wow, you must do alot of cardio and like...live at the gym" Actually I don't do much cardio at all and I live my life, which I enjoy very much thanks.
"So you probably don't eat any carbs" Actually I eat more carbs than you could ever imagine, my body works well with them - horrible without
"You must do like a thousand crunches everyday to have a stomach like that" No, I eat right moron and let my squats build my abs.
OH, and I love when guys come up to me in the gym and tell me that I should be careful with this whole weight lifting thing because I'm borderline too muscular and guys don't like that. Ok a$$hole, let me get this straight - you're intimidated? Your opinion doesn't mean $hit to me, you see me here working out with my bf the last 2 years and obviously he likes it, thats all I care about honestly.

Oh yes, I love the crunch misconception! When people ask me what i do to get a flat tummy i tell them "oh, i lift heavy weights, do a lot of deadlifts and squats". They look at me like I am crazy.
I haven't had guys tell me i am going to get too muscular in a long time though. Most of the guys at the gym i think secretly find it sexy when a girl with a nice body comes in and lifts heavy weights. The ones that make the negative comments are the insecure ones.

I take Japanese sword fighting and fencing but when i tell people that i do martial arts they automatically assume that I do MMA or other such sports. When i tell them that no, I take Japanese sword fighting and Kendo (fencing) they kind of laugh and tell me "those aren't real martial arts". I try to let it roll off my back and laugh at their ignorance but in all reality, sword fighting was the ultimate martial art in feudal Japan. Oh and kendo which is where you fence with a long heavy bamboo sword is probably the most difficult thing I have ever partaken in.

wow that is cool (not the part where ppl laugh) i do martial arts which has incorporated Kendo into it in the higher belts i have just started to learn - LOVES IT!!!

great question
I get the "you must take those energy pills, right?" all the time. Especially since I'm on a ship with 280 people and they've seen me lose 20 lbs in the last six months.
Or, even better, "aren't you going to kill your diet?" when I have a peanut butter cookie once a week. I love those questions.
In the gym I get "are you sure you can lift that??" when I do my squats especially.

I love when they do that. I think the guys at my gym like it best when I work my shoulders (I have shoulder problems and can't use heavy weights on them...yet). It makes them feel like a man or something. My fiance LOVES the fact that I lift and lift heavy at that. As long as I can keep up with him at least.

I'm a military spouse so there are a lot of stereotypes out there regarding that, like that youre going to cheat when your husband is deployed.
