Deloading is not about pain or pain reduction. It's active rest for muscles that have been worked hard for 4-8 weeks.
Remember that our muscles adapt to work loads, which is why we should continually increase/change something each time we work a musclegroup. Taking some kind of break from training is also essential to continual increases in size/strength. The "rule of thumb" is a rest week (or an active rest week) after 6-8 weeks of training. Different people vary that, but I know of very few who go "whole hog" for several months without giving their bodies some serious recovery time.
You may not feel that your body needs it, but I've found that I've been able to break new ground and hit new PRs after a rest week or a deload.
