I'm 45 and got down to 6% body fat
I did a documentary with Jeff Willet and got down to 6% bodyfat in 6 months. What I did was pretty simple. Max OT Training explained on youtube.
Then for diet it was pretty much get your carbs in the morning around your workout and then eat lots of crunchy greens. Of course you have to have good sources of protien and that came from whey and chicken.
The clips from the movie I Want To Look Like That Guy give away a lot of good information. Just seach youtube for the movie.

For anyone interested - a new diet for me
Got 13 weeks to the State championship (natural) here and although I am in as good as shape as I've ever been it seems the level of leanness required to gain 1st place if way beyond where I am at present
Weight 83kg and not certain of b/f % but the 3 skinfolds at the front thigh, ab and chest (1/2 way between pec and shoulder) is a total of about 9 mm atm. Rekon its about 5%
Starting a strict ketogenic diet with a "cheat" meal on Sat - sort of a cyclic keto diet but modified. Calories at about 2300-2400 with a 70:30 fat rotein ratio. Doing 3 weight sessions per week; 3 ab sessions and 4 HIIT sessions for about 40"
Any comments/guidance/criticism/suggestions appreciated and TIA
Keep ya posted if interested

[QUOTE=rubenramos2;344758781]Hi guys. Just found this thread and looking for continued inspiration. I just completed a transformation challenge that ended May 4. It lasted for 14 weeks. I went from 20%bf and 166 lbs to 7%bf and 152 lbs. Since the end of the contest, I have been trying to add size. I am up to 161 lbs. I live in a small town where we have no gym so all I used was a Bowflex and a set of dumbbells. I will be 40 yrs. old at the end of the month.
Excellent transformation
You may have no gym, but motivation, determination and a good diet are probably better tools than a super de luxe well-equipped gym.
Great job!

Me at 47 from FAT to FIT
This is a cool thread!
Joining this site and getting back into shape was one of the best decisions that I could have made. It has benefited me in every way possible. I dropped 106 pounds and got my bodyfat down from 38% to 12.5%. Now my new focus is to put on 20 pounds of muscle. Today I am going to check out the NPC keystone classic here in Pennsylvania to keep my motivation level up to 110%
Thanks to all the great friends Ive made here who continue to help keep me strong and focused on my goals!

Just turned 34, 10 month pics.
First pic was last August at about 202, second was today the 20th and I am about at 187 or so. Swimsuits were a 36, new ones a 32. Not very happy with the results now that I see them on the screen. Thought I had come further, but need to 100% commit with the diet.

For those interested:
Weight down by 2kg
Strength is up so no real problems there
Aiming for close to 12mm in the skin folds by this Saturday
Have had two cheat meals in past two weeks so the glycogen levels have remained reasonable. Managed to reach "ketosis" as measured by the ketone stix by Friday PM - slow as as many report this by the Wed (following the Sat carb-up)

This was how I was 2008-12-28. 83.6kg, waist 97cm, 26% bodyfat, exhausted after a hike. It had been raining which didn't help the looks much. See the skinny arms, rounded shoulders, and fat belly?
Now 2009-06-24. 78kg, waist 85cm, 16% bodyfat. Still ugly, but with more muscle and less fat
I've still got a long way to go, but I'm definitely on my way there.
My gym journal thread gives the full background, but basically - I was a skinny kid, Army bulked me up, of course I slacked off afterwards, and though I've had periods of strength and fitness training, I've never really kept it up. But after bursting the buttons on three pairs of pants while hiking in December, I decided it was time to sort things out.
I will never be a bodybuilder or powerlifter, as I've got a lumbar scoliosis which leads to a big difference in the spinal erectors and obliques. But I can improve my strength, fitness, health and appearance. When I didn't exercise, I'd fairly often wake up in the morning with my lower back seized up painfully. Now that never happens.
I began with three months of 10,000 steps a day plus working up to 50 of each of pushups, situps, prone pullups, and squats. Once I could do that it was into the gym regularly. I focus on compound movements like benches and leg presses.
Now I'm going to study to become a personal trainer, not really inspired by my own efforts, more simply that I'm tired of being a chef and want a change, and apart from cooking what I've most enjoyed in life is teaching other people skills, and helping people do things they thought they couldn't do - building confidence.

Just a thought -I'd suggest 10% is a bit optimistic
Still in good shape but cant really see the abs yet....
The pics, btw, appear to change the width settings somehow and the thread is tuff to view
Is that just me and my browser setting?

Hey All...New to this post.
Hi everyone! I just stumbled across this post and decided to add my two cents. I am good on workouts (i.e., sets, reps, splits, etc.), my issue is diet. I know with the vast amount of experience here I can get this dialed in.
So here goes with the life story, I was at my heaviest 270 with a 47" waist. I am now down to 245 with a 36"-38" waist. What I am looking for ultimately is to get down to about 235 with a 10-12% bodyfat. I did an electronic test that states i am about 20%, though I don't know how accurate that is.
I am really confused about protein, carb, and fat intake. I read that I need 1 gram per pound, 2 per pound, all kinds of stuff. I am trying to dial it in so it doesn't feel like I am stagnating like I am now.
So if anyone can offer some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Obviously you need to keep the protein fairly high. If you're more concerned with fat loss I'd suggest you do plenty of moderate to intense cardio and eat low carb. I like to cycle my carb days. Like 200/100/50 grams, then repeat. You must be in a calorie deficit to lose fat, but the real trick is minimizing the muscle loss.
If you had some specific questions you might get some better responses as well.
Good luck, and I'm sure you'll get to your goal weight.
